They must have pushed this out the door quick so they can announce the sequel before the holidays.

It was a decent concept ruined by technical execution. On the PC side the matchmaking was crap, and pretty much killed the game. There are maybe 500 people at the most that play it. No server browser, no dedicated servers, and no options, was the death of it on PC. Who wants to play a multiplayer game where you can't even do something as simple as select which map you want to play?

...

Overall a very shitty port to PC, and I will never buy another game from them again.

You just described CoD.......yet people still buy it.

I wonder if they'll get the message about the game's failings and produce a sequel (or some sort of follow-on) that will get these things right.
Nope.

So what ended up being the consensus on this game? Was it any good?

NPC swarms killed the game. Everyone I know who tried it, that was their #1 complaint.

You start playing, you feel like you're doing well, then you realize that you're killing trash mobs. Then you realize that you've gone a long while and have yet to fight another player - until you have a giant robot showdown (which is over soon enough, and it's back to NPC fest).

Literally everyone IRL I talked to that played it, had the same reaction. Sourness over the low player density, and AI clutter.

And I'm not saying that the teams weren't full. They were full.

That said, it was a well produced game. Good quality visuals, positive controls.

For some idiotic reason I got suckered in to the hype and got the season pass. The game is so dead, and without the ability to select maps to play on, there are a few maps from the various expansions that I just never had the patience or will to keep playing to see.

Overall a very shitty port to PC, and I will never buy another game from them again.

Solid multiplayer game, but really could have used some sort of Mechwarrior 4 type of single player.
