Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Trailer & Skill Trees

The Borderlands website now offers interactive skill trees for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, offering the chance to tinker with builds for the upcoming shooter between-quel. Word is: "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel may not be out yet, but here’s your head start. We’re helping you plan out ahead of time some choice skills for the playable characters, as we’ve done with previous Borderlands games. Here’s an overview of each character’s skill trees before you dive in on your own." Gearbox also offers a new trailer where series favorites Sir Hammerlock and TORGUE introduce the game. Here's word on the clip: "Join Sir Hammerlock and TORGUE on an EXPLOSIVE tour of Pandora’s moon, Elpis, in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. MOON MONSTERS, deadly new foes, LASER WEAPONS, cryogenic elementals, LOW GRAVITY, erm, butt slams, AND MORE AWAIT YOU ON ELPIS! SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!"

it would be great if this series was full on rpg, with the fps style and all that other stuff

as it is, i find borderlands fun for a short while but ultimately its pretty hollow and superficial

Just thought I'd throw in my unbridled enthusiasm for Borderlands the Pre-Sequel to break up all the hate and "meh". I love this series and I can't wait for MOAR BORDERLANDS.

Loved the new trailer - Torque and Hammerlock are hysterical!

Meanwhile, Destiny's a helluva lot of fun... I have it rented from Gamefly, but I'd much sooner buy it than this rehash.

Meh, I tried booting up and playing the last one recently. I just wanted to go blast through the game in god mode and see all the content and after about 2 hours I lost interest. Never turned it back on.

It's a great looking game, I'm surprised I don't enjoy it more, it's got all the things I normally love in these games but my feelings on 2 have made it easy to pass on this new one. Lots of end bosses, lots of different enemies, and locations. I don't understand why it feels like a chore to play.

I'll buy the new one on a steam sale and never play it eventually. I'm sure the install will kick ass though.

Yeah but who pays full retail for PC games? There's always at least a 20% off coupon code from greenman gaming going on. It's not that it isn't probably worthy of full retail pricing it's just that it feels like it's either "too soon" for another edition or people are assuming it's just more of the same. Aside from the UI it doesn't appear to have a ton of asset recycling from BL2.

I'm not a huge fan of the way the inventory system works in these games, especially when you have to keep dumping weapons to switch out to new ones with a full inventory - I never seem to want to dump my older weapons. I kind of wish you could just rank up your weapon rather than play the random weapon drop game. The need to open up hundreds of little boxes for ammo and money get's tiring as well.

Yeah, weapon upgrades and mods would be nice, if only to keep an older gun that you really love still viable in higher level combat.

That's a good point. It's not that this looks bad per se, it's just that it looks like the same stuff I played the hell out of before.

Still, it's a solid shooter with crude humor and over the top gore. I love the funny one liners like "I smell delicious!" when you set an enemy on fire.

I bought BL1 & BL2 when they were on Steam sales....but I may buy this one at full price. There is nothing technically stunning about these games...but they are a fun ride. Not very many titles out in the past few years have had me really appreciating the dialogue and some of the relatively minor details. Admittedly, a lot of it is on the level of fart jokes....but after a stressful day sometimes it's nice to just let go and enjoy yourself.

But you can play it locally with four players right? If so it makes sense. Magicka did the same thing in online co-op and I think it was the right choice: sreen-locking encourages teamplay, sticking together and prevents lone wolfing-with the exception of a few annoyances, like when your character gets knocked off the side of the screen beyond your control.

Food shooting has always been in Gauntlet, but no shared gold is a bit of a downer.

It's an expansion pack sold for full price. Good luck with that, whichever publisher is responsible for that.

Not only is the price out of whack, it just feels tired, at this point. They need to let it rest a few years and come back with something fresh.

The Witcher Wild Hunt isn't coming out until February 2015. But other than that, yeah, it's an embarrassment of riches this year.

The great thing about having limited time to play is that I can pick them all up in a year for way less I think I'm just going to grab The Evil Within (if reviews pan out) and Witcher 3 on release.

I've read/seen very little on Gauntlet, is it a full on modern remake?

It is a full remake, the game looks good. but there's a ongoing discussion about the games screen locking and being on a leash that's got many people upset. The discussion is, yes its a remake of the old game. but he problem is this isn't an arcade game anymore with 4 people standing over one screen.

So screen locking is a bit old fashion and very aggravating when you try to go off screen or to the side of the screen and you cant because other people are on the opposite end.

The other feature the devs for some odd reason did was make the game more about competitive mode. meaning, who gets to the gold first gets the gold first. If someone wants to be a dick and shoot the food when the warrior needs it badly. well you are now SOL.

People are worrying about griefing in the game, with the screen locking , a person could just be a dick and decide to stay on one end of the screen and not move now locking down the game because some may be pissed about something another person did In the game.

The Devs have said, they will monitor this and see how it goes. people are asking that they put an option in the game so those who want to play without the leashing can do so.

so this game is a bit of a chance if you don't care for the screen locking.

There's a lot of games that I really want to play in there, but then I think about it and realize that it's been a long time since I've been "REALLY" excited about a game. I mean a huge game with crazy features. Not a clone of another game, but with a different story and settings... Know what I mean?

Yeah, I'm pretty excited for the Witcher too, but there's that little voice in the back of my head that keeps going "It can't be THIS awesome. It's impossible."
