Gauntlet Next Month

A Steam Community announcement reveals a new release date for Gauntlet, saying Arrowhead Game Studios' action/adventure remake is now expected on September 23rd, the first day of autumn (thanks Dark). They apologize for the delay, which seems excessive based on its original summer release window, though it may have had a more specific release date somewhere along the way. The post is accompanied by a new gameplay walkthrough trailer and word that they've added a new preorder bonus, saying: "As a thank you for all fans who have pre-ordered the game, we have added a special in-game item as a bonus: The Spawn of Kerthull, a special Wizard’s Robe made from dead imps, who are children of the greater demon, Kerthull."

I hope they're not using XNA studio, their Magicka game ran like it was running off of interpreted BASIC.

I watched the Twitch playthrough they did earlier this month and was not impressed. I grew up with gauntlet, and have very fond memories with the arcade and N64 versions, but to play that plain vanilla style of ARPG again? Naw.

I'm sure there are other 40+ yr old folks who will get it, but I'll still with Path of Exile.

Before the playthrough I thought it was going to be a typical ARPG with loot and levels and skill trees.

Just so you know, I'm an old school PC gamer that has only played the coin operated version of this game. I'm looking forward to it, quite honestly. The fact that they are up front with us about pushing the date back, getting us an in-game vid and a free item for pre-ordering seems fine by me. If they need to polish it, I'm cool.

I watched the in-game video and was satisfied by what I saw. The graphics reminded me of Titan Quest. I like the idea of traps, being able to rank up your character, having specifically crafted as well as procedurally generated areas, grabbing turkey on a plate for health and 'friendly' pvp/competitive mode with your buds by grabbing pickups and treasure before they do (a la the Chaos Engine? I think that's it). Anyway, Not only will it have local co-op but online as well (or a mix).

It's a new Gauntlet for only $20 bucks. That's an awesome price to pay for an update to an arcade classic in my opinion, and it looks like they are doing it the right way.

It was originally coming out on the 3rd, and the delay is for the MP to be more refined.

hi, our marketing has stunk, because we are not marketing it, so we will just postpone it, so others can hear more about our freebie and hopefully buy more copies than the 10k we sold.

i'm a huge gauntlet fan, but nothing about this looks exciting and already pre-ordered, appears to be a 30 minute walk in the park game coming here.. see no point to it.

Delay might make me cancel.. very suspicious
