Out of the Blue

It has been decided, and ESPN's Pigskin Pick'em will be the home to our NFL picking this year, and from the discussion yesterday, it sounds like we may have a second such league to compete for the best record versus the point spread. It's all for fun, and anyone should feel free to participate, so don't hesitate even if you plan on picking by uniform colors.

So, I see that Adam and Jamie will return to become the sole hosts, but I wonder why? Just lower ratings so the show is trying to save money?

Most likely. It's been going on for a dozen or so years, so it's bound to eventually lose its charm.

They have also been annoying the living fuck out of a large amount of people by putting fucking goddamned TWEETS in the middle of the fucking screen during their episodes, because obviously we ALL want to see what @DipShitRetard thinks about mythbusters.

It annoyed me enough to the point where I was already thinking about not watching it any longer, and this is just the icing on the cake. Kari, Tory and Grant are far more entertaining to watch than Adam and Jamie. Without them, the show is just... blegh.

In the beginning it was just Adam and Jamie. I think Kari appeared briefly in one episode where they made a mold of her ass. Then Kari, that other chick and Tori came on as the build team. I remember when they changed the format of the show where Kari, Grant and Tori started doing myths on their own people were bitching and wanting it to go back to just Jamie and Adam. Now their gone and people are bitching to keep them.

I'm betting they're going to try and do some kind of spin-off show, but seeing the quality of shows Discovery lately, it's going to be good and get canceled or suck.

Grant has pretty much always been a bit of a freelancer - he'll probably pop up here and there (including possibly still on the show). Kari apparently has been doing some work for the Obama administration trying to promote STEM education for girls. Tory? No clue. He'll probably try to shop a show around, otherwise he'll probably go back to his art and design stuff.

There's a rumor going around Grant was hired to work on the new Star Wars movies, specifically droids.

Hmm, I've got a pending Amazon order. I don't see the banner ad though.

Blue, have you ever thought about putting up a permanent link? Look at the left nav of this site. They have an Amazon link there so you always have access to it.

I noticed he repeated the ad today (below OotB), so maybe he plans to keep it there. The one think I don't like (on Amazon's end, not Blue's) is, after I follow the link, it keeps it in the URL. But the moment I click the amazon link in the upper left of the page (to go to their main landing/home page), it appears to dump that extra URL info, that gives Blue credit.

Wish they did something like their charities (smile.amazon.com) where you set a group you want to support, and it's remembered on your profile (as long as you go to smile.amazon.com).

edit: Not trying to nose in here, but have you looked at widgets, Blue (is it amazon associates you're using?)? I see there's a search box one:

https://widgets.amazon.com/

Hey Blue, just saw the little notice at the Amazon banner which said that if you buy something from Amazon after clicking the banner, you get a cut. Do you know if that's just for the advertised product (which was a freaking FIVE HUNDRED dollar PS3...) or for anything?

If for anything, I'll happily click on your Amazon links first before I do any shopping there.

AFAICT I think it's supposed to be for anything during that visit. If anyone knows if this works differently, please set me straight.

Alright, I just bought 40 bucks worth of DVDs through the link, so I'm curious to find out if you see any of that, and how long it takes. (or if you'd rather not divulge any such information, just whether it works or not. )

According to Amazon, there is a pending purchase credited to here... someone bouoght three seasons of Breaking Bad... is it you I have to thank for that?

The last times I watched the show it seemed to be mostly about setting up ridiculous experiments and debunking old wives tales.

Don't get me wrong, blowing up cars is cool and all but I'm hoping it goes back to more substantial myths like in the earlier seasons, like when they tried to find Jimmy Hoffa's body for example.

I think a whole season of them trying to debunk something like Atlantis could be pretty cool. But I'm definitely not the average viewer either.

The problem is that they have basically run out of actual myths, most of Hollywood's flaws and even a large majority of "real or not?" Youtube videos.

Oh sure, there are some "myths" or rather, commonly held beliefs, they could test, but that leads to episodes like where they set up a greenhouse and see if music makes plants grow better. Or the one where they set up an automated light switch that turns a bulb on and off every second for a month straight. Which is NOT good television

I know, but Kari and Tory didn't really start gelling until Grant joined them. The three of them just have much better charisma on screen than Adam and Jamie do, because Adam just laughs like a maniac about everything, and Jamie still believes it's cool to just be a stoic bastard about everything.

Btw, the episode where they took a mold of a then very, very young Kari's ass: AWESOME. (Seeing her blush like crazy was also pretty funny.)

Some people should just donate $100. (ALS)

I would join you in your football, uh, whatever it is you do but I know only 3 things about football: 1) Jack 2) Shit and 3) the local team is the Panthers.

OK, I looked into it a bit. I am down for randomly picking teams! Where do I get the group password from?

NM, found it. How many edits can I do today? Aaaaand, random teams picked! Go cool sounding team names! (Although Buccaneers vs Panthers, man, hard pick. Panthers are local, but pirates are COOL!)

You can count me in too. I always save up my purchases until I have enough for free shipping. So if I visit a link and then keep shopping for other stuff you'll get a cut? That's be sweet. Let us know in a couple of months how it's going.

On edit: Now if I cancelled all my orders I have saved up now, then visited a link from here and got them all over again, would that be cheating?
