Borderlands 2 Free Weekend; Pre-Sequel Pre-Purchases

Steam News announces a free weekend is underway in Borderlands 2, Gearbox Software's humorous role-playing shooter sequel. Those who do not own the game can play for free from now until Sunday at 1:00 pm EDT, and for those who get hooked, the game is also now on sale for 75% off. Also, Steam News announces that pre-purchases are now being accepted for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, noting that a 10% discount is offered to those who already own either of the first two Borderlands games.

Wow, I'm a little surprised so many people liked BL2, it put me to sleep. I couldn't even finish one character, and I had like 3 max level, loaded out guys in BL1.

Something about the gameplay was just lacking for me. Console-centric menus and inventory didn't help much either.

It's a great FPS. I just found the inventory gamepad centered UI to be very frustrating. That said I don't understand most of the hate for the game. They did a great job with BL2. It was a big improvement over BL1 I thought. So what it's not a graphical wonder. It's fun and they got so much else right with the genre.

I don't recall a lot of hate for BL 2. More hate for the publisher and developer I think.

I think I pre-ordered BL2 and the season pass for less from GMG. I'm a bit pissed that after pre-ordering BL2 and its season pass, late buyers paid less and got more from buying the GOTY.

Don't late buyers always get more for less? That's the trade off of being a late buyer - you play it long after everyone else, and when the community is gone and people may no longer be talking about the game, but you get it cheaper.

Although I think the only thing I'm missing from the GOTY is the that psycho character that I probably won't play and some cosmetic crap I don't care about, but one is an extra mission thing that I might pick up during the sale.

I'm going to pass on this pre-sequel until the money grab DLC is finished and pick up the complete edition on sale. Maybe by then I'll have gone back and finished BL2.

Yeah if it were as good as BL2 with a fixed inventory that would make me just wait for the first sale.

Hated the first one, but I'll be fair and try this seeing as you lot all gush over it like schoolgirls at a Teenbeat convention.

I own all of the BL stuff, and have hundreds of hours in the games, but 60? Pass. Waiting for that Steam sale yo!

Wow, $60? I could have sworn they said at one point it wasn't going to be full priced - maybe I confused it with another title.

60 bucks for what looks like an expansion pack's worth of content. Okay, Gearbox...

Does this shit have single player and is a weekend enough to finish this shit?

Yes, and if you don't stop playing for the entire weekend - yes.

It's $5. Not going to kill you to buy it if you get an entire weekend's worth of fun.

Borderlands 2 4-pack is more expensive per game than buying each one sepparately (5 vs 22.5).

Bravo, Randy. No wonder Aliens Colonial Marines turned out like that: you can't do even basic math.

Must be a Steam Europe thing, because here it's $5 and $15.

Nope. They said probably cheaper. Didn't promise it, just said probably.
edit - Randy said he wanted it priced like an expansion, but it wasn't Gearbox' decision, it was the publisher's.

This is a clusterfuck at this point. If it's good, it'll be through dumb luck. It's a formula they have down pat, but there are so many warning signs.

If it's good, I'll buy it, but I'm just not expecting to.

It's suppose to be as big as Borderlands 1, but even at that it might be a hard sell for $60.

I haven't even finished Borderlands 2 let alone the DLC for it.
