MOBAs are terrible because they are a genre that expects some level of teamwork among random people, which is never a good expectation to have. Sure, you can queue up as a team, but the average MOBA player isn't a serious enough gamer to bother with that. They play with their friends on occasion, but more than likely their friends are going to have vastly different skill levels. I know mine do. That can breed all kinds of animosity and make teamwork difficult.
So they solo queue and get their shit pushed in a lot of the time and just come away feeling very bitter about it. That bitterness festers in the community.
A lot of the people who spend more than a couple hours a week on MOBAs are some of the most bitter, vile gamers you'll find. They make some of the old bitter Viagra takers around here look like beacons of positivity and hope.
I honestly wonder why MOBAs are so popular. It seems people find some entertainment value in repeatedly losing and then getting super mad, because they keep going back for more. Maybe they think they'll be super pro some day if they keep trying. That must be enough of a carrot.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?
