I remember copying BASIC games out of a magazine to play on my atari, I think that ran DOS 2.5?

These kids and their extended memory. Ha.
Copy? You mean its code? If so, then I remember doing that with 3-2-1 Contact magazines, but they don't always work with Apple 2 computers.

Er, the golden age of DOS gaming was alive and well a long time before that. Damn kids...

I remember, after playing the hell out of Wing Commander, WC2 come out and required a either a 16 or 25mhz proc. And I had a measly 12...I was so pissed...

I couldn't play DOOM shareware on my 286 10 Mhz. Even 386 Mhz was too slow!

I remember being blown away by the first wireframe flight sim I saw.

Heh, got a copy of subLOGIC Flight Simulator when it was originally released (5 1/4", could never get my cassette drive to work properly) -- best xmas ever.

DOS Gaming? Bought my first PC clone when I worked at Sears as a teenager in 1988 or so. It was a "laser" brand with an 8088 CPU with 40MB MFM hard drive and heavy ass sheet metal case. I went to a little mom and pop store to get an EGA add-on board for it.

I think one of the first games I fired up was Abrams Battle Tank then Populous, More Lemmings, Harpoon...all playable in DOS Box these days but just not the same as on a 60lb Sony Trinitron CRT.

They've even got an app that will run Xcom on your android tablet.

Well, you've convinced me to finally put Android on my POS touchpad.

Also, if you have been putting off revisiting the original XCom b/c of 320x240 px graphics and all the bugs and quirks the original had, go get OpenXCom. They've even got an app that will run Xcom on your android tablet.
