Out of the Blue

There was a shouting match between a couple of ladies in the supermarket parking lot this morning. I couldn't quite tell what happened, but another bystander explained that this involved the accusation of a stolen wallet. Judging by how the accused seemed willing to stand there and shout about this until the accuser pulled out her phone and called the police, I'm going to guess that the accuser may have had a case. The cops showed up as we were leaving, but we will surely get to read more details about this next week in the police blotter, as this qualified as a major dust-up for our quiet little village.

And happy anniversary QUAKE. Just two years until it's 20th. Wow!

You dont make us look any younger, Blue. I remember playing Quake in makeshift LAN parties like it was yesterday. I strongly believe i havent aged since then.
I remember downloading and playing qtest86(?) in my college's computer lab with no sound!

Yea, if I remember correctly - qtest was just 1 level? Single player? We had a LAN party and used null modem cables (can't remember if we had invested in a hub and NICs) and got a 4 payer game of deathmatch going with line commands. It was pretty awesome.
One level and multiplayer only. IIRC, it was Mac OS X, Linux, and then Windows for testings.

Happy birthday to QUAKE, indeed. Remember how fun LAN gaming was?

It didn't go away, we could still do it.
The classic games still work and are fun as hell. Also there's a few newer lannable games.
Someone not as lazy as me plan the Blue's LAN.

I wonder if she's liable for the accident. She should be. There's a reason we have proscribed places for nudity - and this is one of them.

I'd let her off with a stiff warning. Maybe everyone thought she might slip out the window, and were making sure she was ok.

Like in France, you want to get down with the crudite, before you get down to the nud-itay. Biker

i think the problem isn't that she was nude, but that she was HOT heh, and that's a distraction that's much more universal, regardless of how acceptable it is.

Well, if she had been at a beach maybe that European nonchalance would have shown itself...

I've always thought that Europeans weren't as hung up on nudity as we are here in the west (NA)?

When I was a kid living in Germany it seemed every place we went to swim there were topless females roaming free. And as an older male I clearly remember Crete and other countries I visited being just as open to it. Even having nude beaches.

If I had seen her hanging out the window like that I would have shaken my head and laughed. Seems a bit foolish is all. Maybe that was part of the problem?
