Yahoo let their cert expire a couple days ago on one of their mail servers; it looks like the one in use now is an extremely short-lived one:

Issued: 2014-05-20 00:00:00 AM GMT
Expires: 2014-06-27 23:59:59 PM GMT

If you're going to run on certs that expire that quickly, you had better have a robust rollout system to ensure you're always up-to-date...
It seems like everyone companies seem to run into this. Don't they have automations to notify of expiring and expired certificates?

If SSL had a 100% failsafe way to revoke certs you'd never see this issue crop up. But it doesn't. That shit is still manual and it costs money. (For some absurd reason!)

If my experience is any indication the issue with expired SSL certs. is usually the paperwork to pay for them, not the technical side of getting them in place.
Truth is brutal. Prepare for pain.
