The stealthy hacking pvp stuff looks like a nice diversion, and reminds me a lot of Dark Souls "you are being invaded" oh know where is this guy coming from! I like seeing those innovations bleed into other games. I am quite distressed that less than a month from release there is next to 0 info about the primary single player gameplay/story.

Is there a hardcore mode? You know like how it used to be with GTA games, you get arrested or killed by cops and its game over. (Well at least until you reload).

GTA games have had the same death mechanic in all iterations, including the 2D ones. You get arrested you appear outside the police station, you die you appear outside the hospital.

It used to be that being arrested made the cops take away all your weapons, but I don't think they do that anymore in GTA5? I never get arrested, so I'm actually not even sure.

If you want a hardcore mode, just restart after you die/get arrested. Dead is Dead is an extremely fun way to play some games. (There was a huge DiD community for X3, it was pretty cool to read some of their stories.)

Pretty sure you keep your weapons in 5...

Yeah I personally always reload after I die in GTA... You don't ever get anything special for having that stat screen at 0 deaths but I did it anyway... Except GTA 5 since they screwed me over. Sometimes dying on a mission would reload the mission and I'd still have 0 deaths stat, but other times it would add a death. I wasn't paying attention and got a few and didn't have a good point to load from.

The handling in GTA 4 was fun but it wasn't even slightly realistic - cars wobbled around like jelly at high speeds and the crashes were just comical. This looks less arcadey but the question is whether it's fun to play and whether it feels responsive.

Nothing breaks immersion like killing a few pedestrians and cops, getting arrested and immediately being released with a 'hoodlum' reputation....especially if we are talking about a story thats supposed to be happening in a surveillance/police state...

Quite looking forward to this. May is a month rife with big releases, so money is gonna get tight. But frankly it's been a very dead winter game-wise (save Diablo 3 expansion, which is pretty awesome). So I'm looking forward to having to many games to chose from again.

As to vehicles, why is it the best GTA games in terms of vehicle handling was GTA3 in the 90s? How is it that newer and newer tech and game engines have only degraded the car handling and quality? The little I've played of GTA 5, the vehicles are terrible.

Looks like it might be fun, but then I remember how many other open-world games I've bought but never finished and decide to hold off.

Was finally playing Fallout Tactics recently, so at this rate I'll be ready for Watch Dogs by the time gog.com is selling it for $5.99

I thought GTA5 was awful, the cars handled poorly.

Can't speak to SR4, because I've been in a car all of 10 minutes, but remember finding the driving in SR3 pretty solid.

I was going to say (I thought) it looked more arcady than 5, and 5 itself was more arcady than 4.

Looking forward to a new city to explore.
