Watch Dogs "Ultra Specs"

The dogged watch for details on system specifications for Watch Dogs continues. Following hints they would be steep followed by reassurances they would be reasonable, the reveal of minimum specs; full specs; and the Uplay requirement, comes a tweet with "ultra specs" in response to requests for details on how to get the best visuals from the upcoming open-world (or open-Chicago, at least) hacking game (thanks CVG). Here's word:
Ultra specs : Intel Core i7-4770K with a GeForce 780. The PC video was recorded on an Intel Core i7-3930K with a GeForce Titan IIRC.

TXAA isn't much of a performance hit. AO probably will be, in a game like this.

Maybe not on your card, but on my 660Ti it cost me about 8-9 fps in AC4, and HBAO cost about 15. It looks gorgeous, but it's a hefty chunk of frames to swallow

What? TXAA is a huge performance hit in every game I've tried. I lose a good 20 FPS with TXAA compared to FXAA or SMAA.

I hope this can justify my 700$ video card purchase a few weeks ago. No, let's face it, no game can justify spending that much on a video card these days. Maybe in a few years lol.

I don't have a Titan but I do have a 4770K with a 780 GTX 3GB. Hopefully that'll be enough.

That's pretty much equivalent to a titan I believe.

that pc video they released a few days ago did look pretty outstanding; far better than the gameplay vids that came out recently. i'd be happy if it looked that good on my system.

what about the requirements for 2560x1440 resolution? I assume this is only the minimum for 1080p? I want to get 30+ FPS

I have 2 GTX 770 2GB cards in SLI and a 4770k with Sabertooth motherboard and 8GB RAM so I hope I'm good...

That all depends on how much Vram the game will use. 2GB is probably enough, but we'll see. There's only a couple games that use more than 2GB. Otherwise you should be golden. Remember, there's 360/PS3 versions of this game, so this game won't be a as crazy as a game designed for PC/Xbone/PS4 from the ground up.

yea.. i was worried about the VRAM but the 4GB cards would've been $100 more each (extra $200) so it wasn't worth it, so better to go with this as long as games don't need 3GB+ VRAM.

Hmmm, why such steep PC requirements then???

PC-specific features. TXAA, HBAO, better draw distance, etc.

TXAA and HBAO look great, there's no denying that, but they come at a heavy performance price.

My current computer that I've been playing mostly the latest titles with including games like Shadow Warrior and Skyrim, it's got parts dating back from 2008 in it. Aside from the MOBO and CPU, the rest is mostly fine. My vid card is a 560gtx. On the other hand I'm rocking an Intel Quad Core, Q9550, lol. It was awesome for it's time but is showing it's age finally.
An upgrade will be coming in due time but I still don't find any games worth upgrading for...

Yeah, they should've just given the PC version a maximum of PS2 level graphics, then people wouldn't have to freak about about what's needed for "Ultra" settings Rolleyes

I don't know, I'll see wait and see how performance is. My computer continues to beat everything into oblivion and as much as I want to upgrade there isn't much reason yet.

Probably because they're taking it seriously rather than just making a token port.

Or, they're making a very very poor port that nukes resources.

So now we have 'Ultra Specs'? Rolleyes

Maybe Watch Dogs' optimization(s) is different, but there is very limited performance gain between an i7-2600K (OC'd), i7-3770K, and i7-4770K in gaming, so most likely the real bottleneck will be with your GPU(s).
