it is basically untraceable.

What?!?! The entire ledger is public information. It's far more traceable than US dollars! We could be so lucky if our major institutions used Bitcoins, we would see and be able to scrutinize all the corruption and waste imposed on us.

Sure, but I have never had money stolen from my account.....

I worked five years as a personal banker for Citigroup, I spent a sizeable amount of hours every week assisting clients who had funds stolen from their accounts. And the US dollar is the primary source of money laundering in the world. As for people who lost their funds with Mt. Gox, investors in literally anything lose their investments sometimes due to unscrupulous activity. I find it ironic that every argument I have seen against bitcoin can be used against any other currency in the world, oftentimes to much greater extent.

In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. / Few men have virtue enough to withstand the highest bidder.

I am all for Vine blocking porn. But that response sounds a bit like burning down the house because you couldn't get your old couch out through the door. Hopefully this is just a temp solution while they work towards something that's more "surgical strike" instead of "scorched earth".

Political freedom can only be preceded by economic freedom which is preceded by monetary freedom.

Typical Boing Boing article. Entirely miss the point and then pat themselves on the back for bad journalism.

Bitcoins are a perfect way to launder money these days, it is basically untraceable. It is also being used by malware purveyors to cover their cash requests.

Also as we have seen lately, it is not a very secure method of money as we have seen by all the recent thefts from bitcoin storage facilities, I won't call them banks because no bank in the world would be that clueless.
