GASP.....I've NEVER looked at port in my life!

I don't have anyone blocked either. There are good topics/discussions where I find a lot of peoples' posts interesting, informative, and enlightening. There are obviously some very knowledgeable people here that I learn something from time to time.

There are some consistent trolls, but the majority of the posters here are cool. I know I've had my rants and stupid posts, but haven't we all? Hmmmmmmm, I wonder if I'm on anyone's blocked list Thinking

Why is there a load-screen at every window (literally) or why are the guards so extremely retarded.... in Thief 3, if you triggered the alert state, you were pretty well on your way to a morgue unless you went full assassin and killed EVERYONE (It was actually fun playing like that, because it wasn't easy to kill every guard in the game without dieing ,p)

There aren't load screens at literally every window. Only at the windows that load other zones of the city. Most of the windows just open. The "E" mashing gets pretty tedious, though. It was tedious in the Arkham games and just as tedious here. Not sure why any designer thinks that's a good mechanic these days (or even in the past). It might be because they need to delay the window opening so that they can finish loading the room. Perhaps the mashing keeps the player busy during this process so it's less obvious..? Stupid either way. I'd rather just sit and wait for him to open the window.

As for AI, yeah, it definitely seems to have some pathing issues. Thankfully, the way I play keeps AI issues hidden since I'm not allowed to be detected and I'm not allowed to neutralize anyone. With those rules, the AI does its job well enough.

I only have 1 in my block list, Slick. That guy made me break my tradition of never ever blocking/killfiling/ignore anyone ever.

Banished is quite a game, loving it. It's all about the journey. I do agree that it would be nice for the dev to add a substantial content expansion though. Even so, it's definitely going to be in my top 5 games of 2014.

Yeah exactly, I guarantee everyone in this forum has engaged in one form of piracy or another at some point.

No to be fair to Jerykk and Space Captain they're spot on. Jerykk long ago said he stopped pirating and nin keeps bringing into threads where it's totally inappropriate then hides behind the ignore filter when called on it. He doesn't pirate games anymore, grow up and move on with your life.

Exactly. He would do the same thing to me. I complained to Blue and it seems to have stopped.

I once blocked someone because they only seemed interested in causing a fight - probably the same guy as Beamer as IIRC this guy was a bit obsessed with him. I quickly unblocked him because I found I could dismiss his guff easier by just glancing at it and moving on rather than wonder what he'd come out with and besides, much of his nonsense was appearing in quotes.

Blocking someone because you disagree with them is very lame. If a series of rows over years has left you fed up with them then I can understand simply not wanting that atmosphere any more - but if it's because you can't back up your case then you've really got to ask yourself if it's not you who's being stubborn and if/why you're unable to accept that you've got it wrong.

Blocking someone because they used to pirate games is your call but if you do this, technically you should block me and I suspect you should block 80% of people at least. I doubt I was alone in thinking nothing of borrowing floppy discs or a CD from my brothers or friends at school.

If only I'd heard the good word sooner, my soul could have been saved.

The blues forums are great these days but there was a 3 year period several years ago where some posters were basically screaming at each other about the legalities of software ownership. It was blotting out all other discourse.

I have I think 5 on my list these days, some idiots who just spampost dumb opinions that aren't even worth reading and some political trolls who just push bizarre agendas nonstop.

Jerykk doesn't pirate games anymore. He has literally said as much several times now. Continually bringing it up in threads is really stupid. Putting him on ignore then posting "haha u pirate games!" is some shit I expect from our 6 year old. The world moved on nin, time for you to do the same.

I've only blocked one person, because he endlessly trolled and I know people got sick of seeing me get drawn into it.

There's another poster who endlessly trolls in a different way, who doesn't even understand that he does, who I consistently consider blocking but then I'd lose half the board.

Sure, if you ignore the fact that I bought the game. I have to assume you have me on your block filter or something, otherwise you wouldn't be spewing the same drivel you were spewing five years ago.

of course he does.. hes a chickenshit that cant handle anyone challenging him, so he just talks a bunch of shit and then hides behind the ignore function

childish and pitiful

Not you. I'm eagerly awaiting you fucking up again. And you will. It's only a matter of time.

Blockfilters are basically for people who are so goddamn childish, they cannot let go of grudges and/or people who are so intolerant they can't stand different points of view and the way they are expressed. I remember receiving an e-mail from a certain famous boy on this forums, apologizing for blocking me because he read my comments in quotes of others and realized they (more often that not) make sense. No shit.

Be more adventurous, silly blockers. I haven't blocked anyone ever and I can't name a single person on this board who's constantly annoying or moronic or who deserves to be permanently ignored. It's disrespectful and.. well, stupid.

You can manually drop from ledges and you can take fall damage. The problem is that the game isn't consistent with how these things work. Sometimes you can just walk off a ledge, other times you have to press X. Same with jumps. Sometimes you'll automatically jump when running towards a ledge, other times you'll just fall off. In AC, these things were consistent. If you ran towards a ledge, you would always jump off, even if there was nothing to jump to. And if you weren't running, you would always stop when reaching a ledge. Consistency is key. It doesn't matter if it's first-person or third-person.
True it could be more consistent especially with the running and jumping, that's a bit annoying that one. But the falling I don't really have an issue with as you can tell straight away if you need to press x or not. Calling AC consistent is funny, he doesn't always do things consistently at all - grabbing on to all sorts of things instead of what you intended, "What are you doing" is something I often shout at the monitor Never had that problem with Thief, just "ugh, cant run and jump to that one..."

Point is that I sometimes want to lurk over the edge, which you can do when you have to press X to drop down. There were times where my intention was to lurk, but Garrett decided to walk right off the edge, more often than not dropping dead or alerting guards. That shit is alt-F4 material.

I agree, but speaking of Assassins Creed, in every single on of these I shouted at least 20 times at the screen something like "Why the fuck are you grabbing that" ..... you actually have to play AC in a very certain way not to constantly run into this issue... especially when these stupid "run after a dude and tackle him" missions come. can't believe how often I accidentally fucked these up

Thie f4 is ALT+F4 material though for sure

But speaking about Thief 4 again, I am kinda baffled why they didn't just run with the ending of Thief 3, a young girl gone thief trained by Garret would have been interesting to play and opened an interesting new aspect and even some moral reflections on the players.

Instead we run after here and she becomes little more than a princess we have to rescue. The game reeks of outdated game design too. Why for example, are the shops behind load-screens, why isn't it integrated properly into the world? Why is there a load-screen at every window (literally) or why are the guards so extremely retarded.... in Thief 3, if you triggered the alert state, you were pretty well on your way to a morgue unless you went full assassin and killed EVERYONE (It was actually fun playing like that, because it wasn't easy to kill every guard in the game without dieing ,p)

Thief 4 is another game that is a farce when compared to the previous games. Why is stuff like this even made... sigh.

Not saying it is BAD, but man I liked Thief before, now it's just a major tedious thing. The city hub is the greatest detriment of them all. Load screens and respawning guards. YAY

Colonization ftw! No, I think it's like people have been saying, it's just a survival simulator. There's nothing to aspire to beyond survival. He should have made the game more of a 'How the West Was Won' type game.

I'd have enjoyed that kind of game far more to be honest. Build a colony vs the harsh reality of nature and natives. Can you survive the next winter? (And seriously, Winter in Banished is a joke, they pushed this feature so much but fact is Winter is nothing but a minor annoyance ,p) back in the early colonization days, Winter was a harsh fight for survival.

And I don't mean colonization is boring, far from it. I mean their version of colonization is boring. Also people should not be able to jump between jobs without massive efficiency penalties. Every person should have a personality, there should be envy, greed and crime. There should be deadly plagues and floods, too much rain ruining the harvest or all your cattle dieing.

Oh well

Ps.: Also, I think it's absurd there isn't a mayor or village elder, the game should have played its "human interaction" and "survival" angle far more.
