I agree entirely. If Toronto ever bids on it I'll be joining any legal group that opposes it. That or move. Of all the things this city needs money for - and it's a lot - the Olympics are so far down as to be invisible on that list. And I wager that's the same with most every other city in NA - and most around the globe.
I've never understood the Olympic hype and agree it's a tremendous waste of money. If they can use private dollars for them, by all means go right ahead, otherwise forget it. It would even make more sense if they built a few Olympic parks around the world that would just rotate every few years. One in Asia, one in Europe, one in NA, etc.
