Out of the Blue

So yeah, the Super Bowl turned out to be less than super, at least for the Broncos (sorry, our annual Groundhog day re-celebration put off a timely game debriefing). It worked out for me, since I tabbed the Seahawks to win it all at some point in the middle of the season when they showed they could win on the road. Therefore I got it right in that little playoff pool we ran, taking down the whole thing by picking 10 out of 11 games correctly before the playoffs began, which was good for 21 of a possible 22 points, easing the pain of how poorly I picked all season (I guess I'm more of an Eli than a Peyton). In the Beat the Insiders pool that covered the entire season Mr_Tact ended up on top when it was all said and done, picking 177 winners over the season, falling right in between experts Phil and Chris. I ended up 21st in that pool, which is actually a drastic improvement over the regular season. Also, from Max Smart's "missed it by that much" department, the NYC area was socked with about nine inches of show yesterday, just one day off from creating a real weather situation for the big game, so I wonder if the NFL will be willing to risk something like that again when picking sites for future games.

Gee, a whole $120 million huh? Well that sorta pales compared to the 4 billion dollars a year the NFL costs US taxpayers to subsidize the billionaire club. They really need to end the NFL's current status and no more tax dollars for stadiums - anywhere, ever.

Christ, look at Sochii, 50+ billion for the winter games?! Are you effing kidding me? Who can afford the Olympics anymore? It's completely out of control.

Super Bowl XLVIII most-watched TV program in U.S. history.

I wonder if that includes internet streaming. About 20% of the guys at work streamed it.

Edit: Streaming 500K. Was in the article at the bottom.

That's pretty awesome. And even though that Halo ship is a superior MOC, I prefer the Rodger Young.

We had fun with the Bowl despite the game being utter shit. We basically sat around mocking everything MST3K style and ate tons of shitty food. I hope that Seahawks D gets split up next year.

hell no man. champs should never be broken up, not till someone takes the crown from them. makes the drama of the next season that much more interesting, seeing what other teams come up with to try to deal with the newest winning strategy.

man that was painful to watch. the broncos were just not ready to play, regardless of talent. on both sides of the ball they were making rookie mistakes left and right.

oh well, at least the halftime show was friggin awesome. was never a fan of bruno mars until now.
