Out of the Blue

Thursday Night Football is long done for this season, but I still want to remind participants that there's one last game to pick on Beat the Insiders, since I know at least one person who wasn't aware this extended into the playoffs (or at least that was their excuse for falling behind me in the standings). Sadly, the latest weather reports make it seem less and less likely there will be snow for the Super Bowl, though I guess with talk of possibly rescheduling it in the case of bad weather makes this for the best.

Made some awesome bacon wrapped chicken cordon blue breasts last night with taters and carrots. Also yesterday made an awesome fall apart roast with carrots, garlic, snp, beer, brown sugar, and some other stuff. Removed the carrots and meat, then let the beef stock sit overnight so I could remove excess fat (wasn't enough to remove) then made a beef stock veggie soup today. Man. I love cold winter cooking.

Tonight dinner is left over pork n kraut with a bit of veggie soup and jalapeno corn bread.

Stay at home daddy day care = lots of cooking.

This is making me so damn hungry right now.

Same here, though I didn't see it until this morning, so it is conjuring up images of an unusual breakfast.

I decided to put the veggie soup back in with the shredded meat and set it aside for SB.....damn tasty....going to also make chili.

Was I the only one to read this great article on KSP that Blue posted in Interviews last night?

I read it (I was the one to submit it).

i read half of it, why? KSP is great, but i still feel it's missing... something. narrative i think. right now it's a great educational tool and should be adopted by all schools like oregon trail was, but it needs narrative to be a proper game. like a space race to save the planet from something.

Keep reading. Go down to the section titled "Separation Stage" where they talk about a mission pack being made in partnership with NASA for KSP that challenges players to land a Kerbal on an asteroid. They're also creating an educational version of KSP for schools.

The game is still in Alpha. They just implemented the first part of the career mode a few months ago. They are planning to introduce currency and expand the career mode to include contracts in next version. I don't see why you can't give yourself a challenge to complete using sandbox mode though. That's what I did before career mode.

The game already supports custom scenarios. A teacher can create a scenario with a crashed ship on the Mun and challenge the kids to build a rescue ship to rescue the stranded crew. I believe with scenarios you can limit the parts available, and when currency is added, you can give them a budget as well. So you can challenge kids to do something, and whoever does it with the lowest budget wins.

Anyone else not connecting to Steam atm - 4:45 pm EST? I can reach them in my browser but can't login with the client.

All good here.....Minneapolis.

You see the connectivity stats?
Only 2 million users, I think the avg is 4 - and the data won't load....most likely a problem...

Actually looks like 75% of the system took a deuce....keep trying.

Why is the Super Bowl played at the MetLife Stadium?
I would have thought it would go to one of the two finalists state capitals.

No home field advantage. At least not intentionally. If a team can make it to the Super Bowl in the same year that their town is putting on the Super Bowl, than I guess they have earned the home field advantage. But originally, like 45 years ago, the idea was to pick a neutral site that would attract as many fans as possible, which is why they change the site of the Super Bowl every year. It is like the NCAA basketball tourney in that way. You have the the bracket matches all over the country at pre-determined sites, all the way to the finals. If a team happens to earn their way to the tourney and gets to play at home that is great for them (Butler did that a couple years ago in Indy) but it isn't something the NCAA tries to make happen. If they could, indeed if every league could, I imagine they would try to put all championships in neutral sites. You can't really say definitively that one team is better than another if one of the teams has a tangible advantage. That's the thought process anyway.

Literally how every idiot on TV shows use computers, that's great. It's too bad he couldn't get a ridiculous, futuristic style user interface into the shot and start waving his hands in the air to simulate mouse clicks.
