Still stuck on the Bush thing 6 years later? Can't face the music like always. Obama is worse in every area that counts.

What Bush thing? You said Obama will go down as the worst blablabla and I simply disagree, Bush did worse in many areas. There are worse presidents than Bush too, some Democrat and some Republican. I'm sure many people will not remember Obama fondly but he's far from the bottom of the pack in terms of presidents. That isn't exactly a ringing endorsement so I'm not sure what your issue is with my comment.

The only thing he has going for him is the constant free pass, and he's damn near worn that pass out.

No he would have to do a lot more to outdo Bush. I think he'll go down as a fairly middling president.

Until the next one. At least this president can speak, sometimes we don't even get that.

So, in other words nothing will get done? Gotcha, expected nothing more.

That's the way the system is supposed to work, it's what keeps some degree of checks and balances present.

You completely missed my point.

There are people in government that aren't popular (to their peers) but have the right ideas. They just can't beat the 2 party system.

Those same people will become corrupted or be invalidated by our current system. There is no fix, we have essentially let politics become broken beyond repair. This isn't nihilism or fatalism, just the reality of the system we have let grow around us. The only way to effect change these days is to have a lot of money.

Fine - but can we agree he is no better than those that came before him? Cause once we agree on that - we can move on and try something better....

No one has anything better, we just need a new system of government entirely but I don't want it to happen in my lifetime.

Only real question is will that make for a better world or worse?

How could it possibly make for a better world?

The ONLY reason why he said that they will not spy on leaders is because some leaders are starting to get nervous and Obama's clan needs to put their minds at ease. Not a damned thing will change other than more expansion of spying.

The America that we once praised as being the best in the world is now an example of all the worst things that we used to stand against. There's way more going on than any of us realize.

Even the headline is wrong. They didn't ban spying on leaders, just made them get permission first. The article even quotes part of that there's exceptions:
"unless there is a compelling national security purpose."
And by scaling back, yeah I suppose... if you count that he reduced degrees of separation searching from three to two. Yeah that's so HUGE!

The speech was all about appeasing the public and not really doing much else.

"Nobody wants to be nobody in America. Ed is the apotheosis of a prevailing American syndrome. It used to be that someone became famous because they were special. Now people are considered special just for being famous. Fame, itself, is its own virtue.
