"Full-Fledged" Tom Clancy's: The Division on PCs

A community Q&A about Tom Clancy's: The Division has further details on the advanced Snowdrop engine that will be behind the upcoming tactical shooter (thanks Eurogamer). They describe their goal of creating a "detailed, stunning, diversified and immersive world that reacts to your actions." They wrap things up saying they plan a "full-fledged" PC edition of the game:
As you know, Massive has its roots in PC development. We are working hard and we want to make sure that we have a very high quality experience on PC. You can be sure that our PC version won’t be a port, but a full-fledged, optimized version! We want to create the best game possible regardless of what platform you play on.

So what is this game exactly? It looks like a cross between dumb console third person shooters and an MMO. Do you just upgrade guns and shit or how do they handle the persistence?

This si the game that was for sure not coming to PC, now coming to PC, and now not going to be a port.

I hope this game is as good as the trailers make it look.

I don't recall them ever once saying "For Sure" not coming to PC. It was simply announced at E3 as a console title, and after 2 days of people spamming Ubisoft with PC interest they said they'd make a PC version.

They said it was console only at E3, then later commented they wouldn't rule out other platforms but didn't announce a PC version until August.

No, it doesn't. The only prompt Steam has ever given me without my asking for it is to perform a Steam client update.
Interesting.
Every time I exit a game I get a pop up announcing a new game release or what game is on sale or a new item available for a free to play game.
There are sometimes more then one "news" announcements and I have to click next until it's all shown otherwise they will be back the next time I exit a game.

And I am totally onboard with these developers; I met these guys years ago when they worked on Ground Control at E3. The Devs were a great bunch of people to talk with and cared about their games and getting community feedback.
It would be cool if they did a new Ground Control game. I really enjoyed them especially the first one. I didn't care for the look of the units as much in GC2 but the improved graphics were nice.

Ehh, aside from the Uplay parasite it'll undoubtedly have, Ubi's been doing a pretty good job with their PC versions of games. Far Cry 3 never felt like a console game, and it definitely had visual upgrades over the console versions.

FC3 is my favorite fps in many years... Blood Dragon is in a class all itself - im not usually a big fan of the arcade shooters, but everything else about that game was super-mega-totally-awesome-radical

While it was the most interesting thing at E3 question is will it be interesting and varied enough with the CRPG elements ala Fallout 3/NV? That or just a FPS where you're walking around looking for looters to kill? And I hope this includes the UI. Let's face it if there's one area console games coming to PC suck, it's the UI.

Steam spits out a news thing at me like once a month, not every time I quit a game.
No those pop up every time you quit if you just close them.
If you click through every single window then they will not pop up until there is a new sale, but that is like every single day.
With that said I really don't care about those anyways, things like these don't bother me much, but everyone is different I guess.

I get one every time that I quit a game. Now, that said, I also don't find it to be a bother in any meaningful way. Click 'x' and it goes away.
If it chucked several of them at me... well, then I would be a good bit annoyed.

Only experience with Uplay I had was Far Cry 3/Blood Dragon and it hasn't created a single headache.

Now with GFWL I was unable to complete Arkham Asylum until they removed it.

For the most part, I don't mind the Uplay app. Annoying though if you buy a game that's been out for a while and has a few patches. Launch the game, update, close the game. Launch, update, close, etc. until you're finally updated to the most recent version. Was hell when I got Assassin's Creed 3 complete. All the updating and DLC installing was insane.
That was made worse by the fact that I pretty much stopped playing after you start playing the main character.
Black Flag, on the other hand, is friggin awesome so far.

Edit: BTW, The Division is looking pretty cool.

The latest Ubisoft games look pretty awesome on the PC imho. The uplay client doesn't do much other then running in the background un noticed and unlock achievements etc. It is not much more annoying then the Steam client running in the background. These things never bothered me anyways.
Really looking forward to this game. Massive is an awesome developer studio.

Right on. I'm not saying there is never a snafu, but these apps aren't a big deal at all on my end. To me I have to look at this fairly, there is no reason why Steam should simply get the whole pie here and others cannot compete with their own launcher apps.

I would be so much more behind the cause if it was really causing strife, like GFWL, when it ran it was still clunky, when it didn't it is not an easy program to remove and reinstall, being a MS app it had to put hooks into many things and didn't simply remove via Program Files (That said there were many iterations over time, so if they fixed that in the end... I'll call it "too little too late".

I think I covered most bases as I prepare to be refuted.
