Ultra Street Fighter IV Trailer, Interview

A new trailer from Ultra Street Fighter IV shows off some of the enhancements coming in the upcoming re-re-release of Street Fighter IV. The clip introduces new systems, including the Red Focus Attack, the Ultra Combo Double, and Online Training. The video also outlines the upgrade paths to the new edition for owners of its predecessors. There's also an interview about the game on Polygon talking with Peter Rosas, Capcom's community specialist and battle director, who talks about how they are working to create better character balance based on carefully assessing the feedback from their players. "So if you make the right reads and if you use the toolset properly, then you can play this as a dynamic back and forth game that is really, really fun," Rosas said. "And that's what we're trying to do for most characters. All the characters have the tools to fight each other equally." Finally, we also have a new batch of USF4 screenshots.

I hate their combat system. There's also way too many buttons and variations of special moves. Also, the single player AI is horrible and not a single of their characters is interesting to me. Their PC port is functionnal, but the control remapping is horrible and broken. Combine all this with the terrible practices of Capcom like on disk DLC and reselling the same thing for full price over and over and you're left with a sour taste in your mouth.

If you want to participate in tournaments it seems like a good game though I guess...

I admit its been a looong time since I've played a fighting game, but its nice to see that combos have evolved into what looks like a 2000 hit automated process.

still wondering why they don't even bother to interpolate between the four keyframes of each move.

Hope this game gets pirated to hell and back. Already purchased Street Fighter IV, and instead of properly releasing patches, they rerelease the fucking game for a 3rd time! It's bad enough with the on disc DLCs, they have to charge $40 for the proper version of the game. They did the same crap with MvC 3.

Enough, Capcom needs to die already.

Totally understand the sentiment, but for some reason I am not mad about this. I went full price for the original on Xbox, but skipped the interim stuff in between (including costumes) until AE went on sale a while ago on Steam. However, nothing is really necessary. If you want this years update you have to pay, as it wasn't free to develop. The costumes are cosmetic fanboy gouging moneymakers only, whatever. What is really creepy is the idea that they remove GFWL from Ultra, but not the previous versions, basically FORCING an upgrade. Oh boy, will it ever rain fire!

I think I got everything ever released for it for about 10 bucks in the AE complete version, 4 years after the initial purchase and it's a game that almost always comes out when people are over. Though maybe Samurai Gunn will replace it if our last session is anything to go by.
