Out of the Blue

The snow took a midday break yesterday, but with so much more of it still in the forecast I decided to wait until this morning when it was done. Things packed down a bit along the way, so it was only about four inches deep, but very heavy. I'm not sure if it would have been easier to do it twice when things were lighter, or once as I did it, but it's all done and my back and heart both still seem to be operating properly so I'm just going to call it a win. I hope everyone else in the path of the storm had it so easy.

I just watched the video about Zina Nicole Lahr. Immediately fell in love with her. Never knew about her before and really wish I did. What a beautiful mind and woman.
Yeah, I never heard of her prior to this either. Definitely an interesting person, I'm sure it's a huge loss to the people in her life.

But a hiking accident by herself? That sucks.

Yep. Also the main reason why really you shouldn't go out hiking by yourself.

The way she looked and sounded I first thought she died of cancer. And I've been around a lot of cancer patients. But a hiking accident by herself? That sucks.

Thanks, nin. I was poking around a bit, but only found "accident" listed. I was wondering. Such a shame.

This was the closest I could find.

I wonder if her weight had something to do with her death. She looks painfully thin, and I say that as someone who has dated some fairly thin women, having living in Asia for a few years. She looks like she has no body fat at all, and looks like a toothpick even in baggy clothes. She looks all of 80 pounds or so. Even if she didn't have an eating disorder, perhaps she was just so consumed with her work that she didn't pay attention to eating enough? Pure speculation I realize, but she doesn't look right. Hiking requires stamina, and that requires bodyfat reserves to burn.

Peter O'toole died yesterday. Sad weekend.

damn. watch The Lion In Winter if you haven't already - one of the great film performances of all time imo, from the whole cast including peter. i think i'll watch it again when i get home from work.

His performance in The Night of the Generals is one of the finest I've ever seen. I haven't seen The Lion In Winter yet.
Completely agree, watched that with my partner, we both enjoyed the character and how well he played it.

Sad news indeed.

Well, I meant fans and non-haters -- ie.. people in the sports press. People who dislike the Cowboys love Jerry Jones being the owner and GM.

Both fans and non-fans of the Cowboys have been saying that for years now.

LOL at Dallas. Tony "Oh NO!" Romo is up to his usual tricks. Nothing like consistency!

And China's on the moon. I wonder if Gil Scott Heron will do a song about it?

I'm actually wondering if I'm the only one hoping that China sends its rover to the coordinates of the US Lunar mission to take a pic of the flag left there by Armstrong's gang. It would put the whole "we didn't really land on the moon" conspiracy to rest at least.

Watching Dallas choke away a 26 point lead is extremely entertaining. I think Jerry Jones might actually explode today.

Edit: Lucky bastards. That reversal was crap.

Jerry Jones needs to fire his GM.

The Lion in Winter is a must see. Him, Kate Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, etc. all top notch performances. Hepburn won the Oscar for it and O'Toole got robbed on that on. I love watching, particularly at this time of year as it takes place at Christmas as well.

And while you're at it, go for the double feature and watch Becket with him and Richard Burton. Another bloody good film of the same genre.
