Out of the Blue

Something I love: The time-saving macro functions of my Logitech G510 keyboard. Something I hate: Having to re-enter these macros for the second time in a couple of weeks. The first time was mostly my fault: I had two different profiles, and managed to over-write the useful one with what was essentially an empty one, which I'll partly blame on the software for making this too easy to do. Then yesterday I lost them all on a reboot, so I really don't know what happened, but it wasn't good. There's no function to explicitly "save" the macros, but there is a way to import and export them, so I guess I'll play with that to ensure I'm backed up.

Macro Links: Thanks Ant and Acleacius.
Play: Feed Us Lost Island.
Caved In 2.
Stories: ALEC calls for penalties on 'freerider' homeowners in assault on clean energy.
Singapore marathon 'winner' ran only 6 km.
Science: New freshwater reserves found.
Coffee or beer? The choice could affect your genome.
Europa’s ocean could help explain its jigsaw surface.
Creation of entanglement simultaneously gives rise to a wormhole.
Media: The Bert And Ernie Christmas Special With Tony Sirico And Steve Schirripa. Thanks nin.
Naki'o the Bionic Dog. Thanks nin.
Steve Martin's Acceptance Speech - 2013 Governors Awards.
Cliff Jump Gone Horribly Wrong. Understatement. Thanks nin.
Auctions: "Han Solo" DL-44 Blaster from Star Wars. Thanks Kotaku.
Follow-up: Could dark matter be hiding in plain sight in existing experiments?

Laughing at the English football team is something that brings all British people together. The same can be said about laughing at the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish teams too, but the bigger they are the harder they fall.

Sadly, after about 80 years of delusion, English football fans seem to be coming to terms with their place in the world: hovering at around 10th in the ratings isn't actually that bad. This dramatically reduces the fun to be had at their expense.

A win vs. the German "b team" is not worthless. This "b team" defeated the English lions @ Wembley just a couple of weeks ago. ;)

That's pretty much the definition of worthless right there.

Winning vs. a team that defeats England at home is worthless now?

The current Three Lions team is not the best English team ever, but it is definitely not easy to defeat these guys at home.

It's England, we're obligated to laugh at them.

What did England do again? Oh, yes, right, they attacked the fleet at Pearl Harbor in 1861 during the great war of independence, right? Man, I sure love history!

So I got that 40-inch LED tv from woot a few days ago, and it was supposed to be delivered today - but this is a first for me, Fed Ex page says "Delivery Exception Local Weather Delay - Delivery not attempted"

wha!? I wonder if the truck broke down cause of the cold, cause it isn't a storm today - but it is damn cold at 1 F. Cause that message didn't come in until 2:07, so the truck had been out almost all day. Weird.

Never seen that before, no. Even if the truck broke down, they normally just send another one to pick up the packages and deliver them anyway. Was it really icy on the roads or something?

Seriously though, what do you mean recent. If it's good enough for the Dude it's good enough for us.

Germany is the clear favorite in this group and Portugal with Ronaldo on form is capable of beating anybody. Hell they managed to get past Sweden in the extra qualifiers in two fantastic games. (I watched both games and both teams were brilliant). The US has its work cut out for them. Id like to see them do well, but they were really unlucky with the draw in getting both Germany and Portugal.

the be fair that was mostly a german b team, and i do agree with your assessment of the others, but looking at it just from pure ability, we're probably about the 20th best team in the world, and the worst team in the group. other groups at least have cupcakes ranked closer 100 than 10, but we get a murderer's row. ouch. now i'm just hoping we can at least beat ghana for some payback.

A win vs. the German "b team" is not worthless. This "b team" defeated the English lions @ Wembley just a couple of weeks ago.
The US team is pretty good, I think they should win vs. Ghana and maybe even vs. Portugal. And at least a draw vs. Germany is possible. Don't give up on them - they can pull this off!

Holy shit has Enemy Within gotten plain INSANE hard on Classic and Impossible. Three missions in a row I lose two rookies and get one of my vets injured, to then be sent on my first terror mission with 1 support guy and 3 rookies, all 3 of which were classified as "shit" and had thus been left behind in the barracks "just in case."

I manage to kill 1 floater, 3 Crysalids and 1 zombie, until 1 zombie walks reasonably near them, manages to survive with 1 hitpoint, vomits a new Crysalid up, which can IMMEDIATELY MOVE AND ATTACK kills my support guy. So now I'm left with 3 rookies, all in range of the Crysalid, two more zombies in vomit range, the last floater which had been hiding for a week until it decided "Hey, they're up shit creek! ATTACK!", and then on my turn I find out two of them are out of ammo. And I'm 2 squares short of evacuating.

ANANDA GUPTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
