Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Week

EA announces a player appreciation event for Battlefield 4 to mark the game's Xbox One launch and to help compensate players for XP they may have lost due to glitches in the early days of the military shooter sequel's release. Here's word:
Today we launched Battlefield 4 on Xbox One. With that console, we will have brought Battlefield 4 to no less than five platforms. It is amazing to see such a complex universe come to life across so many advanced hardware systems. Millions of people around the world are playing the game and seeing the tip of the iceberg of what the next generation has to offer. At DICE, we are committed to you, the fans, and view the game as a live service. I am extremely proud of the people at DICE and everyone across EA that contributed to the development of Battlefield 4. However, I am less proud to see that the game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period. While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues. Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets – and exceeds – your expectations. It is the right thing to do.

To show our appreciation for your patience as we work through these issues, we are announcing that from November 28 through December 5, we will reward all players with Double XP for every multiplayer match they complete. We understand that the launch issues may have impacted your progression, and we want to do everything we can to help you get back the XP that you may have lost. Also, to cap off the week, on December 5 we will give all players that log in to Battlefield 4 multiplayer a M1911 pistol scope. This special sidearm scope, previously reserved for our DICE developers, has a 3X zoom and is available for all classes in Battlefield 4.

Hopefully this means they're close to getting Conquest mode working on the PS4 ....

Holy shit, CONQUEST mode hasn't been working on the PS4!? That's terrible!

The PC version seems to slowly be getting patched into stability, not counting a few long term balance issues. I actually played through a complete cycle of all the maps the other day, it was glorious. First time I'd ever seen Dawnbreaker, and first time I ever FINISHED a round of Shanghai(high crash rate).

The attack jet is so great, I may actually deviate from my usual tank/apc/MAA/scout helo whoring to get some more flight time in that thing. Stealth jet is laughable, however.

Pistol scope, eh? It'll probably be reasonably useful, the pistols are pretty badass in BF4.

Now if only they could fix the FOV zooming issues, the sound issues on Golmud Railway, etc. this game would be great.

I, too, am still playing BF3 instead of 4. Sure it's harder to find servers, but I think I'll wait to get 4 until some of the horror stories I've heard are fixed

That said, it's really hard for me to wait, since some of the maps look fucking awesome.

Similar case with GTA V, but I won't be playing that awesomeness on a console at 30 fps or less

Yeah BF4's got a few issues, so did BF3 at launch. It's still plenty playable and I've already had tons of fun with it. The only things I'd like to see them fix are the occasional crash on loading a new map and the lack of vehicle sounds sometimes while driving.

"A game is never finished, just abandoned" (I believe John Carmack quoted this once). With that said, I know there are people that complain about how long a game takes as well. Diablo3 is one such example. I was there from the beginning (early beta and beyond) and I can tell you that there were people complaining about how long it was taking.

We have to understand that games are not getting simpler to make as time goes on. Games are getting more and more complex. In other words, I am here to tell you to suck it up and deal with it; be thankful for the fun times!

A better way to show appreciation for your players is to hold the game back until it's actually fucking finished.

I can count on one hand the number of "finished" games that have been released in the past 5 years
It's an industry standard by now, unfortunately.

Biggest upset of the decade, if the hit detection/prediction isn't fixed in the upcoming patch the game is being uninstalled and painfully forgotten.

Really a 3x scope on a pistol? thanks for something that is beyond useless, how about my 110$ back instead?

$110? On an unproven release? Was that all pre-purchase? I think you need to lose that money to learn your lesson, sorry guy.

whatever buddy, i put in over 1000 hours in BF3, so I figured BF4 was a safe bet, i was wrong.

I'm still playing BF3. I have BF4 and won't play it until they fix 3D Vision. If they don't fix it, I will stop buying the series for the first time since 1942. Not a threat, just a statement.

Meanwhile, I'm still having fun playing BF3. I do plan on buying BF4 after I build a new PC next year. By then I expect the bugs to be ironed out.
