Two New Space Hulk Campaigns

Full Control is now offering two new campaign add-ons for Space Hulk, their Warhammer 40K-based strategy game. Available on Steam, the Defilement of Honour campaign and Sword of Halcyon campaign each carry a US$4.99 price tag, and here's a bit on what that gets you:
Sword of Halcyon
The Space Marine vessel, The Sword of Halcyon, left the orbit of the planet Falkan, for its journey home. Upon entering the Warp, the ship crashed into a Space Hulk, infecting the ship with Genestealers. When the Battlebarge, Mayan, picks up the escape pods, they decide to recapture The Sword of Halcyon.Time is of the essence in this campaign, as players must complete objectives, and take out Genestealers as quickly as possible. To aid players in the race against the clock, Bulkhead Doors are introduced, which enable terminators to completely shut off certain areas.

Defilement of Honour
Space Hulks do not move through space on their own power; but are pushed by the winds and tides of warspace. The Defilement of Honour is different, with a partially functioning engine room and an ancient navigational device in control of its course. The Blood Angels, must shut down the engines before they can destroy the Space Hulk. This campaign comes as maps featuring Air Ducts, which can only be entered by Genestealers.

@Darks. Sounds like you'd prefer the new Xcom expansion, Enemy Within? Also, there's a free mod called Warspace for Xcom UE that makes some cool changes tithe weapons and enemy AI and stuff. http://xcom.nexusmods.com/mods/18/

Also this is a purely dice rolling game. It's contrived, this is why you miss a guy that's standing right in front of you.

This is what a lot of the reviewers who wrote a bad review missed - like the PC adaptation of Blood Bowl, the game is strictly based on dice rolls (you can even see the die rolls on screen!) just like the board game. It was infuriating in BB when your passer couldn't hit a reciver 3 feet away, or the guy in the clear one space from the endzone fumbles, but it's all about the luck of the dice rolls, and really, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Prez, I personally hate this game. The Space Marines miss shooting a target practically in their face with a flamer. I mean give me a break already. A flamer that is AOE and nukes the entire area and he misses an Alien. Thats when I just up and quit and said I had enough. There are other instance to similar to this one wit the Marines missing their target way to many times. So, I'm done with this shit title and wont spend another dime on it.
Actually it's not that the flamers miss, is that they fail to kill the enemy. Also this is a purely dice rolling game. It's contrived, this is why you miss a guy that's standing right in front of you. In the fiction the space marine terminators would wipe out a genestealer that he could see but not if there were coming at him from multiple angles he could get overwhelmed. There is no representation of this in the game. Like I said, it's contrived. With the storm bolter you roll 2d6, if any one of the dice is 6+, the genestealer dies.

They used to in 2nd edition 40K, I think they lost it in 3rd edition, I have no idea now. But Space Hulk never worked off of armor saves, shooting was resolved in a single dice roll instead of one roll to hit, one to penetrate armor, and another versus toughness (again, I'm several versions of 40K out of date, so that might have been simplified now).

But a lot of Darks's complaints are kind of that he didn't want a Space Hulk game. In 1st ed. Space Hulk I think flamers killed targets in a map piece on a 2 or higher, so there was a fairly high chance of them surviving a blast. They used to need to roll a six on two dice (i.e., 11/36 chance) to kill a Genestealer, so there bad luck streaks of Stealers marching up 5 squares of shooting were definitely a thing. And he's complained before about Marines going down like tissue paper in hand-to-hand combat against Genestealers, which is pretty key to the board game.

Well... it is a dice-based board game so... RNG. If I remember the board game correctly, I think the Genestealers get an armor save?

Ahh as expected milk that license! Look at the reviews for this game, they are pretty bad and the game launch in beta shape. Thankfully they fixed the vast majority of technical issues. I wish these licenses to make games based on 40k were not given to the highest bidder who will turn around and to put the least amount of resources into the game and get sales off the license alone. 40k needs a big developer with lots of time and money to make it shine not the guys behind Full Control or the like.
