New Studio to Resume Command & Conquer Development

There's a statement on EA support concerning promised refunds for the recently cancelled Command & Conquer revival that was in the works at now-defunct Victory Games (thanks IncGamers). They outline how players can get their money back, but also follow up on remarks made at the time of the cancellation saying "we have already begun looking at a number of alternatives to get the game back on track," with word they are gearing up to resume development at a new studio:
For those of you who bought The C&C Ultimate Collection, your early access to the beta will be honored once production of this title resumes under a new studio.

Guess I'm in the minority here, but screw the Company of Command and Conquer shit. Big maps, tiberium mining and base building. All built around a single player campaign, with the ability to play multiplayer against people or AI. Make it purdy, put in destructible environments and we've got a game EA will never make.

Not entirely the minority - this is what I want as well. I'd actually like something in a similar vein to Red Alert 3 because it had a full co-op capable singleplayer campaign, goofy live-action cutscenes, and in general was fun as hell.

This online-only competitive stuff doesn't interest me at all.

Always online: Always sucks.

That should be the selling motto for 'always online' that these publishers think are good for consumers.

I just want an always-online C&C Generals 2 with persistent progression features, which is exactly what was being developed and is now scrapped. Doesn't seen like it should be THAT difficult to pull off.
Are you being sarcastic? Because this is exactly what I don't want, and what EA probably will do anyways.

If they re-invent it back to a single player game, with all its goofy stupidness, and bring that to a multiplayer component addition like the old C&C, then definitely I will look forward to it. Hell if they add the multiplayer similar to their previous MP only iteration, with lots of different generals and stuff to play as, that'll add to the MP component a lot. That game was so over the top goofy for an RTS back in the day, but also added fresh ideas, and that's why I loved it. Like a different take on Red Alert kind of wackiness.

Because by golly, my GLA workers need sandals to work faster.

I don't think C&C can continue to put up the kind of numbers EA wants its franchises to do in order to survive. They also have this weird online/microtransaction mandate that will basically ensure any C&C game is a shit show.
