Huh? You download the MotioninJoy tool, run it, load the driver and BAM! Done. (Oh, and have the DS3 controller hooked up, either via BT or, as I do, USB)...nothing much sophisticated to it. I actually retired my long-suffering Logi Rumblepad2 because using the DS3 controller is a better/smoother experience...

Guys seriously thanks for the heads up. I started reading nin' post and though "oh god no!" And continued to disaster averted

Glad to hear the launch has gone smoothly.

I'm really hyped about the vita remote play and glad you've posted it works so well. It looks like this may well be a great gen with games like Watchdogs, The Division and Destiny, to name but a few. It's great to be finally gaming at 1080p with good frame rates for once....bar the PC obviously.

Keep the info coming folks

I did that with my PS3 and was playing the God of War collection from work on my Vita via my PS3 at home.

So far, however, my Vita fails to find my PS4 from work, although not for lack of trying. My PS4 is in standby, but it just isn't connecting. Probably some kinks to work out.

I know people have kind of laughed at the Vita up to this point, but it's a real wow moment to see it in action like this. Not to mention, I can play my PS4 from my Vita even if my family wants the TV for something else... it's just awesome to see it in action, and unfortunately probably hard to appreciate until you do see it in person.

Reminds me of how the Shield probably is as well, though might as well wait for the Shield 2 now.

My ps4 ran with no problems at all, the update took about 45 seconds.though the psn has been kind of up and down... Resogun is awesome. Killzone has it's issues and has no snap lock option, if you know what I mean. Which has become common on consoles these days. The battery life on the controller ,so far, sucks much ass.

Thinking I would like a PS4 gamepad for PC,

Apparently Sony actually listened and made the DS4 compatible across devices, including Windows!

One excellent example of instant and precise compatibility – wired with USB and with Bluetooth – is Valve’s Steam. Inside Big Picture Mode for Steam we’ve seen the DualShock 4 mapped with great ease. With just a single hangup on the right trigger button – for whatever reason – Steam seems fully ready and able to make use of the DualShock 4 from start to finish (again, without its advanced capabilities thus far).

If this is true, I'll definitely snag a DS4 and finally retire my Rumblepad 2, which over its dutiful lifespan has lost much tactility.

There were so many hoops to jump through incorporating the DS3 into Windows that I never bothered.

The controller is awesome but its battery life isn't. I definitely recommend people have 2. I used to get 20-30 hours of my Dual Shock 3, I'm lucky to get 6-7 so far with the Dual Shock 4. This is mitigated by the standby charging of course but I think I will pick up a controller dock for this thing at some point.

A bit fun so far - no amazing games (though Resogun is stupidly addictive,) but some nice potential.

PSN is currently up so I was able to download a few things, but I haven't been able to get the phone app to work yet.

Otherwise, it's the small things that are neat - the speaker in the gamepad is surprisingly powerful, the background downloading, FINALLY BEING ABLE TO CHARGE THE CONTROLLER WHILE NOT PLAYING, having two apps open at once, the gamepad fits perfectly in my hand with a solid feel and my fingers comfortably resting between the much improved triggers, etc.

The UI isn't too bad, though it could use some streamlining - some things are on the main bar, some are on the top menu bar, some things are done via the PS button, etc. Also, it's weird seeing how few options there are for customization right now. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I cannot even change the wallpaper or color of the background wave thingie.

Overall, nothing to play for the PC Master Race , but I like its potential and the gamepad feels terrific.
Moarrr games, pleazorz.

It has that capability, but I know my internet speed isn't fast enough to do it from previews. I still have to get around to trying PS4 on Vita wi-fi, though looking forward to it.

My PS4 is stable as a rock so far, highly recommended.

Hooked mine up at work earlier today. Connected the Vita over wi-fi, yeah, that is really cool.

Contrast - Fun little PSN game. Interesting game mechanics and setting.

Resogun - Actually pretty amazing to see all the crazy physics in this game, but at the end of the day it's still basically an 80s arcade shooter.

Killzone - RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE! It's so hard in some areas that it makes you want to smash things. Of course, it doesn't help that I hate using a controller for FPS games. Graphically it's nice, about what we've been seeing on PCs for, oh, years. The level I played was huge and very open, so it reminds me a bit of Crysis. But the framrate during some sequences really stutters noticeably.

I'm still getting used to the new UI, in some ways completely different from the PS3. I shared a screenshot of Killzone to FB just to see how that worked. I wanted to do a video, but hey, Sony only lets you record certain parts of Killzone right now. Nin is right, though. The PS4 loads stuff WAY faster than the PS3. Amazon video? Pop, you're in. My PS3 has to think about it for a minute before loading it up. Menus, the PS Store, everything loads super quick now. Very nice.

Oh, and right now my PS4 is off, but it's still charging my controller. SO GOOD.

Plugged in the PS4 tonight and got 3 rapid beeps, and no boot. After the initial freak out and checking online, I reseated the power cable and it (finally) booted. Odd, but I removed/replugged the power in, and it booted fine a second time. Crisis averted! I'm guessing it just wasn't quite in there enough. After reading about how the K folks jammed the fuck out of an HDMI cable, I tried to be very careful/gentle plugging it in, so I'm guessing it was my fault.

Didn't get much time with the network being up, but finally got Resogun and Contrast downloaded installed. Reso really has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Youtube, even at 1080, doesn't do it justice, by a long shot...the sheer amount of stuff thrown around the screen is insane.

The network (store, web browser, etc) seem much faster to load in. I hope this is due to actual improvement, and not just because there aren't a lot of ps4s connected to it yet (relatively speaking, compared to the huge number of ps3s).

Controller feels very nice. The sticks don't seem that much further apart, yet it seems a lot harder to bump your thumbs into each other. Also LOVE the headphone jack option, where you can plug in any 3.5MM headset and hear everything without waking the rest of the house. Minor quibble: the Options button almost seems a little too recessed into the controller, to the point that, at least initially, I'm having a hard time knowing if my thumb is on it w/o looking down at the controller.

Haven't tried the sharing feature myself, but from the console you can check out other peoples streams. I initially didn't really care about the sharing option, but after seeing it in action, it's actually quite nice to kick back and watch someone else play, and decide if it's a game you might like. You can also (either on the PC with your keyboard, or, I hear, your phone/tablet if you have it synced as a second screen) ask questions/post comments as the person plays, which they can see if they don't have their game window maximized. (So you could ask a question about the game, and they could potentially answer, if they have a mic or camera setup).

Only thing that concerns/annoys me about streaming is I hear sony can block anything it chooses. For example (from comments I read), there was no streaming of KZ Wed night, as it was blocked. While this doesn't seem like a huge deal, it potentially means that if someone gets ahold of a game before release date, they can't stream their play for anyone to watch.

Anyway...overall, positive first impression, but it is early. Hope to dig in more tomorrow.

edit: Oh, and I could have sworn I'd heard the wireless adapter was going to support N in the ps4, but that's apparently not the case.

So how is the Playstation Store for the PS4? Does it automatically download and install stuff like Xbox Live or still the extra steps of downloading, installing, deleting, starting up the game and then patching?

It's about 300MB. You can just let the system background download it while you do other stuff.

Assassin's Creed 4 PS4 update will upgrade resolution from 900p to 1080p.

That's an odd resolution. Glad they will have an update for it!

Speaking of updates, how big is the firmware update for the PS4?
