No decent software? I am guessing your not the target audience

It is Chrome and Google's Web Services period, well with some Chrome Apps thrown in.

So, what you're saying is that Google homepage lets them monitor my searches, Gmail lets them monitor my communications, Google Analytics lets them monitor what I do on about 85% of websites, Chrome lets them monitor what I do on every website (conveniently now linked to my gmail account), an Android phone lets them monitor my text messages and phonecalls, and now Chromebook will let them monitor what I do offline?

We're all annoyed about the NSA why?

I know some of you are thinking it sounds paranoid, but, frankly, I'm fine with all that information being out there, it's the cost of doing business today. But I'd prefer to not have it all on the same servers with the same company. I'll keep avoiding buying Google products rather than have them consolidate every single thing about me out there. They already know more about me than my family, my friends, and anyone I ever dated.

wtf. They are about $250? For $300 you can get a Toshiba fully functional laptop. I have bought and dispersed 4 of them. Currently have one sitting at home that we use daily for everything except gaming.

Not sure why anyone would buy a chromebook. At present, there is not much in the way of decent software for it.
