More NSA Leakers Followed Snowden's Footsteps, Whistleblower Lawyer Says.

So awesome. Snowden still has cards to play, including, it sounds, a few aces. In addition, there are other players at the table yet unknown who have yet to play a card.

I hope one of them is an e-mail or memo to/from Obama saying he knew about the thing the whole damn time......impeached.

Hell if Obama hasn't been impeached yet for all his cover ups, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the absolute sham that is Obamacare, I doubt even with a memo saying he personally ordered it, he'd still not be impeached.

Seriously the guy is a joke.

The problem with that feeling is that the previous 3 were just as bad....

Yeah I can't disagree with you on that either.

No, he's not. He only exposed what many of us already took to be fact anyway. Fact is no one cares. Where's the outrage? The protests in the streets? The recall initiatives of politicians who support crap like this, the Patriot Act, et al. Where?

There is none. Social apathy, laziness and greed is now complete in the US. The elites realize they can do whatever the hell they want now and no one will lift a finger to stop them. In fact, they're only expanding their powers and grabbing more and it's all happening publicly now. And still no one bats an eye. If America ever was a democracy it sure as shit isn't now.

At least we're having conversations now that we were never having before.

Wasn't there a protest in DC a week or two ago? I didn't hear much about it, which either means it wasn't very big or the media decided to ignore it. Probably both.

There's debates in the UK parliament about this and the ISC (Intelligence and Security Committee, who are supposed to keep GCHQ/MIx/etc in line) had to dance around the fact that they clearly had no idea that most of this was going on.

If Snowden's actions still needed justified - and considering him anything other than a hero at this point must be wilful ignorance - then there it is, the UK government's intelligence oversight committee needed Snowden/Greenwald/Guardian to tell them what's happening.

There's a difference between "what we all know" and what was reported years ago and what Snowden has done. A few reports here and there can be swept under the carpet and suspicions could be dismissed as tin-foil hat nonsense. Now, it's impossible to ignore (even the papers which are slamming Snowden are lapping up the news) and any politician dismissing such concerns as tin-foil hat conspiracies just makes them look like they're part of the problem.

I'm not saying much will be done. A few extra checks will be put in place and a couple of programs will be shut down and then things will blow over and they'll go back to doing what they've been doing. The biggest change might be that the next Edward Snowden gets killed before s/he can go public.

The authority for the NSA warrentless wiretapping was given by executive order...by..bush. In 2001. The patriot act was signed by bush...in 2001. It was widely reported over EIGHT YEARS AGO that the NSA was engaged in wide spread domestic wiretapping. And had access to various internet servers , like google, hotmail, verizon etc. none of this is news, or was done in secret. The NSA is building multimillion dollar facilities, they are not invisible buildings....

Sure but most of the big government advocates will label you as a tin foiler anyway even given what we now know. Until the perception changes that big government is there to hand hold you through life, it's not going to matter.

“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.” – William Casey, CIA Director (from first staff meeting, 1981)

They did a pretty stellar job I'd say.

But hey, at least now, with those of us who already dove head first into this stuff years ago, our crowning achievement is to say "I told you so."

Well... not much of an achievement, when nothing is changing. Oh well.

The only thing you can be sure of in this day and age, is that if you have a secret you had better be comfortable with it, because it will come out eventually.

Whether you agree with him or not, think he's a traitor or a patriot, one thing is certain: His name is secure in the history textbooks. Even more than Daniel Ellsberg, this guy is changing the way we fundementally think about secrecy and government.
