If you actually listen to that, stop fucking calling yourselves the press, because you are fucking NOT. You're a glorified marketing whore. If you consider yourselves gaming press and there's a huge issue like that going on, tell MS to go fuck themselves and REPORT it.

That's what the press DOES.

Seriously.
You can try to forbid them not to discuss confidential stuff you're giving them access to (as it's a trade), but not public knowledge stuff.

4K video display and 4K graphic rendering are totally different animals.

Aren't we still quite a ways away from 4k rendering at reasonable speeds? I keep hearing that even the latest $600 graphics cards can barely do 1400P. 1080P is around 2M pixels, 1400P is 3.7M, and 4K is over 8M pixels! I admit I have fallen way out of touch with graphics cards, but is rendering 8M pixels four times more computationally intensive than 2M at 1080P?

As far as I've heard, we're a long ways off. A video stream is one thing. But having the device (pc or console) actually render? Nope.

4K rendering is possible now on PC @ 30fps with top end cards, so feasibly next years range should be able to achieve rates we are used to.

So it will display worse than xbox 360? Although it is upscaling, it is going to be a step backward!? Good job *slow clap*

BUT BUT BUT THIS IS THE NEXT GENERATION! It will be better than everything (except a pc built 4 years ago)

Not sure what you're saying. Neither the 360 nor PS3 can do 1080p either, except in very few, very limited cases. Halo 3 and the CoD games are 540p on the 360, aren't they?

1080 pops up on most games I play on the 360, it gets upscaled.

Yeah, but upscaling isn't as good as native.

And that's a single card, 2 oughta do just fine, and at around a single Geforce Titan price, if you can afford the 4k panel, you can certainly afford a r9 290x crossfire setup. But if I'd be you I'd wait till the OEMs conjure up some decent cooling system, less noise, less temp and even more speed cause by default, the card rarely hits 1ghz due to temp throttling and it shows a lot in the benches. Also waiting = more mature drivers, more perf and less frame pacing issues.

and there's this that was posted yesterday...

http://www.bluesnews.com/...pl?action=viewthread&boardid=1&threadid=146228

it's as if even the new Note 3 device is more powerful than Xbox One. the phone does playable native 1080p.

WRONG. In the article, FXAA creator Tim Lottes is quoted as saying the ESRAM is the problem; 32MB of ESRAM is enough to do 2xMSAA forward shading at 1080p, but most titles attempting deferred shading will be stuck at 720p with FXAA. In other words, most cross-platform games utilize deferred shading baked into the engine, so they’ll be stuck at 720p with FXAA. Xbox One exclusives, such as Forza5, may have custom engines that allow for forward shading. Microsoft has mandated that ALL XBone games have at least 2xAA.

Forza 5 has been confirmed by MS and Turn10 Studios as native 1080p/60fps with 2xAA, and it looks fabulous.

Ive seen benches with the new AMD's, max settings hitting 30 to 70 fps... it's happening. PS4, perhaps some simpler idie games...

Some4K_Benchies

So lets say if the LameBoxOne does 720, are we talking at minimum 4X AA and everything else maxed? Otherwise we just have a 360, might as well just keep using that.

There's some rumors that Microsoft might resurrect the Project Gotham series with Playground (the Forza Horizon devs) at the helm (as Playground is mostly staffed by ex-Bizarre employees)... we'll see. It'd pique my interest, that's for sure.

Honestly, I'm a little pissed. These rumors appear to be true; Activision has been unsuccessful in trying to utilize "The Power of the Cloud"tm for a resolution bump. Like a fool, I preordered the Xbox 720p months ago and it's too late to preorder the PS4.

It's not too late, Amazon has been getting new allocations regularly and you can just walk into a brick and mortar. Toys R Us and Walmart will definitely have non-preorder allocation. Ditch the Bone dude, the new PS interface looks ballin.

The point is all games on the xbone will have to be rendered at 720p.

Also, the Forza games are, by the standards of top-tier racing games, pretty butt-ugly. It took until Horizon where you finally had a game in the series that didn't have widespread aliasing, washed-out textures, and texture glitches, and then the gameplay was half-assed.
