On the Germany story, they may be better off getting an international coalition that excludes the US from the rest of the world's internet. That would have more of a chance than Germany alone. Not ideal, but a viable alternative.

I wouldn't mind a purely German "net" that I can switch "on" and "off" depending on what I want to do. Sort of like a German intranet. It'd actually be pretty neat if that had encrypted (and good) email services as well as proper e-gov implemented.

The problem is that if the German Telekom is doing it or anywhere near it, it's going to end in a massive disaster...

You forgot the part about it including 20-25mbps internet service, numbskull.

My bad I did just assume it was ala carte, wouldn't assume they'd throw some hookers into it. Not too shabby then.

And on-demand, and broadcast TV.

Doesn't seem to be too bad of a deal then. That's what I pay for 15Mbits + Netflix. I guess it would depend on how good their on demand library is. (and what potential BS price hike after the intro offer)

On the surface it looks pretty good (if you like HBO), but the problem is that what they advertise is usually an introductory price that increases by 50% after 6 months, then fully doubles after a year... Some royal bullshit, that.

$50 per month for one channel? Pfft! And they wonder why people pirate.

Yeah, I'd pay $20 or maybe even $30 if the content was right. But $50?

At least it's a first step. One that needs to be tweaked, for sure, but a step in the right direction.

You asked for it and you got it... HBO only cable starting between $40 and $50 a month. Be very careful what you ask for.

HBO doesn't carry enough good shows to demand that kind of coin. Cheaper to buy their shows on bluray.
