Battlefield 3 Double XP Weekend

This weekend is apparently a double XP weekend for Battlefield 3 on all platforms in advance of next week's release of Battlefield 4. There is no news feed on Origin, The Battlefield Blog is too caught up in the new game to address this, and even the Battlefield 3 website is completely given over to BF4, but they are keeping the face on fan site BF3Blog, where they say this will not be the end of BF3, as DICE plans another double XP weekend shortly after Battlefield 4 launches.

Should we create a Blue's News platoon? We had one for BF3, though I don't know if it'll transfer into BF4.

I think the platoons carry over? Mine is still intact from 3 to 4. Guess we will find out tonight eh?

Normal just irks me because I hate having to dump a whole mag into someone just to have them dance a behind cover and regenerate, then dance out and kill me with a lucky headshot.

It felt to me like they've done a lot of rebalancing, even on normal. I was regularly able to sneak up on a squad and drop 3 people with a single mag. In BF3 getting more than 2 guys with one mag was a challenge.

For anyone that wants the best possible deal on BF3.4.

I can personally confirm that it works. Remember to allow third party cookies.

That's not a 'deal', it's fraud.

How is it fraud? Banks do this all day long to make money on the exchange. How it is fraud if we use the exchange to save money?

Unless you are calling the actual price of the game fraud....which then I would agree with you! Highway robbery.

I edited it to price so that you are free to apply whatever moral values you wish. Cheers.

Thanks Batman I added you, how the heck do you get such a high score per minute like that? That is awesome.

BF4 preloaded yay!

I am a support/team player. I stay close to my squad mates and revive/give ammo/health. I also play on HC so kills make sense. I also hate vanilla and dumping a whole mag into someone, so annoying. It isn't a CoD rush in and kill, and people forget that as I make a hallway a bloody death corridor.

Not enough people revive, as they want to use the newb tube instead. The team that revives in BF wins.

I'm officially committed as well, considering I just spent 2 hours fine-tuning my server settings and map rotations, linking the server to the tracker, and announcing the server on my pages.

Server info, btw.

Hrm, I'll check your server out post-release, although I am not generally a fan of Hardcore, purely because I end up getting TK'd so damn much on pubs. Orange Dorito over my head? Ok, as long as my teammates can't blow up my tank.

Also, it figures that there was a BF4 sale right as/just after I bought it.

I just snagged BF4 from GMG for $48 and finished preloading. I wasn't willing to pay the full $60 for what is really BF3.5

Sadly it looks like that sale has ended. I might be interested at that price, but yeah... I don't feel the game is worth a full $60. Modern level-up shooter is rather overdone at this point. I still imagine I will pick it up later for less.

Or am I missing a sale?

This one is supposed to be good until Monday. I figure BF4 can hold me over until Titanfall in March. This is the GMG code I used: TAREM-BF4NA-BOOM1

Edit: Full Dealzon link in case the code gives you any trouble.

I am officially committed to BF4 now. Upgraded to a Corsair 512gb Neutron, bought BF4/Premium, preloaded. BF3 seems to be a bit skewed right now, everybody is either a veteran or seemingly brand new. Every map is a blowout. Some of it is probably rusty people coming back also.

Only a few days to start whining about weaker tanks in BF3 in earnest though, hooray!

I'm looking forward to a lot of the balance changes in 4, and I was sold once I saw that they removed the RPG and SMAW's ability to use the laser lock from the open beta (seriously, who thought that was a good idea?)

the rpg lock in the BF4 beta was just an anti-butthurt measure to balance choppers. once we get all of our unlocks, we'll have real counters to chopper rape. But in a controlled test only giving out the first 2 unlocks, gadgets etc per vehicle, soldier etc. the lock-on RPGs just gave people the ability to counter a good chopper team.

not to brag, but on the first day of the beta i was going at least 40-0 routinely with my pilot in comms, until people figured out the rpg trick, it just have been terrible for the people on the ground, that's all i'll say. as a promotional beta, it wouldn't have helped people enjoy and want to purchase the game after being demolished like that
