WARFACE Goes Live Next Week

Though the WARFACE website says Crytek's upcoming free-to-play shooter is in pre-open beta testing (not to be confused with closed beta testing), word is the game will be officially declared live next week on October 21st. There are no other details accompanying the news, they simply say: "Sign up at warface.com for instant access to the game at launch."

WARFACE...

...because nobody in their right mind would ever pay for a multiplayer Crytek game.

Act now and get free lag with your poor framerates!

It's a multiplayer FPS like the rest, with some Co-Op missions added in for good measure. They get you with microtransactions on things like boost's, skin's, and the like. You can rent items for X amount of days or buy them permanently with in-game cash you grind out or real cash if you are the impatient type.

Hrm, I guess I'll try this at some point, but what's the catch? Is this just a marketing tool for their engine, or are there some sort of microtransactions hidden in there somewhere?

It appears to be a 4 person co-op shooter against progressively harder AI bots where you slooooowly grind out in game currency to spend on things to unlock, I imagine they're hoping you get addicted to the gameplay and frustrated with the slow progression so you spend real money on equipping yourself.

Specialist is still the overplayed class, and there are claymores around every corner. Other then that, it's a pretty solid game.

Nice. I'm really enjoying the game to be honest. Let's be clear, Crytek isn't known for their multiplayer abilities. But Warface is pretty tight. Also since it's F2P and runs on CE3, it's a looker. If you are into that sort of thing.
