So after spending $3.2 million on the lamest ad ever (click that if you dare), Oregon still failed to enroll ONE PERSON through the Obamacare site.

I'll be the first to admit that the healthcare rollout has been nothing short of disastrous. Maybe giving in to Republican requests during the "shutdown" to delay it for a year wouldn't have been such a bad idea. Despite being for the idea of healthcare availability to more people myself, this botched rollout does give a pretty solid illustration as to why lots of people would prefer things like this remain in the realm of private business as much as possible. Government cannot run things as efficiently or effectively as private industry can most of the time. That said, the current health care system is broken and nobody was doing anything about it; in cases like that the government is almost always going to get involved, for good or for ill.

Beamer, I give you credit for answering. Now I'm wondering about RollinThundr. I get the feeling he's either the youngest person here or the oldest by a wide margin.

Funny that you couldn't even provide simple answers or even keep the same list of questions. Just sayin', that's all...

Oh, missed one:
If you are out of school are you still paying student loans? Yes, I have significant student loans, somewhere in the ballpark of $180,000. I've mentioned this often here.

Seph when you get out into the real world and realize you have to work for things, they aren't just handed to you on the backs of others, and they SHOULDN'T be, maybe you'll gain some wisdom as to how the world actually is.

It's nice to dream about this magical utopia that you think socialism would somehow bring about, without realizing that someone has to pay for it all. Reality has a habit of smacking you upside the head eventually. You'll get there someday I'm sure.
Didn't you read my post earlier about my company providing my healthcare? You responded to it.

It depends on your definition of the "real world" but I would say I've been living in it for the past 10 years. Graduated from high school in 2004, I took out 50K in public/private loans for college, had two internships (Stardock and Raymond James), graduated from college in 2008 with a BS in IT. Got my first job one month out (they called me because developers were/are in demand here) and I've been working salaried here for the past 4.75 years. It's an excellent company, I get bi-annual raises, nearly monthly bonuses, profit sharing, full health and dental, and ample vacation and personal time. I put 20% into my 401k (and the company matches to a certain amount) I drive a 2013 Taurus SHO and am shopping around for my first home (apartment now). I vote in every election I can and vote to raise taxes whenever possible because I have more money than I need. Throughout my life and my family's we've made use of infrastructure and programs that are supported by taxes.

We live in a powerful and successful country that can afford to raise the quality of life for its citizens. If I lived somewhere else in the world I likely wouldn't have been as successful as I am. It was poorly stated but Obama's "you didn't build that" speech was trying to drive this point home. You benefit everyday from something that is paid for with taxes, you aren't doing it alone.

It's because you're an attention whore. Obviously you didn't put me on ignore yet. Why? Because you want to be the center of attention and need people to fuel it. The way you answered the simple list of questions presented to you shows you love attention.

Do I have a full time job? Yes.
Do I rent/own? I rent. A penthouse, actually. I'm pretty proud, just moved into it a few weeks back. Floor to ceiling windows, corner view of the waterfront on one side and the skyline on the other.
Do I have a family? God no. But I earn somewhere around the top 3% of households in this country, as a single male, and can't imagine what it would be like to be around the middle as a family of 4.
DO I own a car? Yes. But the advantage of living in a decent city is that I only touch it once every other week or so. Huge gas savings!
Do I have health insurance and know how much it costs? Yup. Although, being a healthy single young male, I have the cheapest possible. Deductible sucks, but I go to the doctor pretty much when I'm doing something that requires me to (e.g., going to a foreign country and need certain shots.)
Do I have a family of my own? You already asked this.

So is this the thread where if you dare deviate from the binary thinking that fits neatly into (pick one) LIBERAL/CONSERVATIVE you get labeled as a (pick the other one) CONSERVATIVE/LIBERAL?

A spade is a spade Prez, if you could honestly tell me with a straight face, given Beamer's history that he's not a liberal since he pretty much is the walking DNC playbook 100% of the time then well that's your problem.

I wouldn't know, since 1) I don't really talk with Beamer any more, 2) I don't care about labels but rather the gist of someone's argument and 3) I don't have a copy of the DNC playbook.

Either you can refute his points or you can't. To me labeling someone else as something you consider an object of derision may be convenient but it looks diversionary, almost like you are ducking the issue.

I refute his points fine, then he cries like a bitch and puts people on ignore that he disagrees with.

And, for the love of god, where do I defend this administration? This is what's wrong with you idiots - you think anyone that supports any tiny liberal thing is a liberal that is obsessed with this. I've called Obama a failure many times. I've said his administration isn't particularly good. I've said he's really not done anything memorable. I've said he hasn't been a good leader.

But I support gay rights, therefore I'm a bleeding heart that must drive a Prius with 10 Obama stickers on it.

I'm starting to get it, Beamer has a victim complex.

He does, but he never says why and acts like a jackass about it because we're insensitive to whatever issue he has that sets him off all the time. Perhaps if he shared why, he'd feel more respected by us once we've had the opportunity to hear it?

Racist, homophobe, whatever -- he throws those out there to further the perceived victimization. Even though we're not racist / homophobic and are just people who like to call a spade a spade...
