Yup. Capitalism is about the individual, often at the expense of the group. HMOs have proven this.

I'm with you that I'd prefer heavy regulations rather than the government being this involved. The government can't much of anything well. But the system was so totally broken and something needed to change. It's impossible for an individual to pay for health care without insurance, due to how the insurance companies changed the market. And it's extremely costly to get insurance if your employer won't pay for it, which is true for millions of fully-employed Americans.

The system sucks. Doctors have been making less and less money each year, patients have been paying more and more money each year, and only one group has been winning - the group the least involved. It takes money to make money, though, in part because there's so much demand for money that, when you control the supply, you can dictate the terms best for you. So, in the medical chain of supply, the money all goes to the HMOs despite them adding very little value to the process, just because they could take it.

I consider it socialism because the government should not be telling me what type of healthcare I can buy. As a consumer that should be MY choice.

More stupidity from a stupid man. They already regulate HMOs and tell them what they can offer, which, really, is the same exact thing. The main thing they're doing is trying to pull profits out of HMOs (which are ridiculously profitable) and reduce costs. Have you ever been to a hospital and seen the bill? Whether you are uninsured or insured with a high deductible, you're on the hook for an amount of money that will basically ruin you. Why? Because HMOs have gamed the system to such a point that hospitals charge $44 for a Tylenol. HMOs have ways around this. Individuals? Not so much.

Interesting that you've gone from whining about "lazy, unemployed" people to old people, though. I'm hoping this means you understand that most that are either uninsured or paying far too much are neither lazy nor unemployed.

But whining about old people doesn't work, either. Old people have Medicare now. What's Medicare? Why, it's a social medicine program wherein young people contribute money and old people receive care!
So you fucking whining about fucking Obamacare being fucking stupid because it fucking makes young people fucking pay for fucking healthcare for fucking old people is fucking moronic because we're fucking doing that today you fucking idiot without the ability to fucking understand the fucking world around him.

Do they make you wear a helmet full time? Do they keep you in a plastic bubble, not due to any health concerns but more so that you do not harm yourself as the world around you confuses and confounds you?

Prez, he lied, for 3 years over and over, "you'll be able to keep your old plans, prices will be lower!" straight bold faced fucking lies. Healthcare is a huge part of our economy, putting the government as a middle man has total fail written all over it at least in it's current form.

I'll be the first to admit I would prefer a private industry program to a government one almost 100% of the time since government isn't exactly known for efficiency (And as a goverment employee for 9 years I should know). In the case of healthcare, however, things have been spiraling out of control for years now and nothing was being done to fix the problems - why would any entity even try, when there was nothing in it for them? Which, incidentally, is one major fault of capitalism - only monetary considerations will ever push industries to improve without governemnt "encouragement", which unfortunately it has come to for the health care system. If it ends up that ACA is an unpolishable turd then I'll be right there with you, but only to call for something better. As far as what he lied about, that remains to be seen as far asI'm concerned. My plan remains unchanged, and if it goes up in price, that isn't anything new. Before the Presidency was even a twinkle in Barry's eye my health care premiums have been shooting up at an alarmingly fast rate.

Didn't you say before you lean conservative? You've been awful lenient on this administration if that's the case.

It depends what we are talking about. If you want to discuss how he seemingly has no control of what his cabinet members are up to, like idiot Holder and "Fast and Furious", or his hypocricy on bashing Bush for invading privacy when he was a Senator but then taking the program ten times further as President, then I won't have much good to say. But he has done some good things that even conservatives should acknoweldge were they not so focused on trashing him at every turn. He has been tough on terrorism - Bin Laden is room temperature now thanks to his giving the order. He listened to his generals and effectively pursued the war in Afghanistan to make sure the war was won before winding it down. He ended the Iraq debacle (that I have to admit I was for in the beginning before I woke up). I could name other things but hopefully you get the point.

Yeah, I fail to see how it's socialism at all. People proclaiming that either don't understand socialism or simply do not think deeply about it.

Frankly, our society/economy has a lot of socialist influences. Take the FAA. It doesn't matter if you're John DryGoods in Nebraska who has never been on an airplane or if you're a frequent flier - your taxes go to the FAA. Part of your paycheck in turn pays the air traffic controllers. You have no say in this. A national network is built that communicates with each other, is loaded with government employees, and offers no alternatives.
Does anyone whine about the FAA?

No, because most people that do the "socialism" whining are status quoers (i.e., concepts with socialist bearings are ok so long as they're old, but new ones? God no!), and because some see the benefit of not having two airplanes crash over their house.

I've yet to see someone call frequent fliers "moochers" for getting a benefit everyone is forced to contribute to.

I don't remember anyone proclaiming Obamacare "great"... the best I've heard is that it's an imperfect solution to a huge problem. I am still taking a wait and see approach - the launch disaster is not necessarily indicative of an overall failure of the whole program. Just think of Obamacare as an MMO - huge problems at launch but constantly being worked on.

But seriously, I just don't see it as the end of capitalism or our grand entrance into socialism - people who are covered by it still need to pay for it after all. Also there's nothing saying that it can't be tweaked so as to work better. If you hate the very idea of it that's fine; lot's of people do, but I always wonder what is that hate based on? If it's all the doomsday predictions I've heard about it, all I can say that from what I've seen the doomsayers are almost always wrong, and in the rare instances they are right it's more happenstance than anything - even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Unless it's digital, but I digress...

Expecting 20 somethings to pay for healthcare to support older people when money at that age could go towards better things like paying off loans, getting a car, house, married etc is so stupid an idea in the first place, only democrats could have come up with it.

Prez, he lied, for 3 years over and over, "you'll be able to keep your old plans, prices will be lower!" straight bold faced fucking lies. Healthcare is a huge part of our economy, putting the government as a middle man has total fail written all over it at least in it's current form.

They couldn't even be bothered to test all the integrated parts before a roll out thus it's pretty much been a failure right from the get go.

People losing their coverage because of regulations, people paying more, forcing people to pay for a service they may not need at this point in time.

The idea that this is Obama's legacy makes sense, we can just add it to the long running list of the rest of his failures as POTUS.

I've said it before, any president that makes Jimmy Carter's presidency look good in comparison? Yeah that's a pretty shittastic president.

Didn't you say before you lean conservative? You've been awful lenient on this administration if that's the case.

Looks like MSNBC hasn't yet gotten that call from the Whitehouse to get back in line. It's ironic how the mainstream media couldn't attack Reagan fast enough for denying involvement with his scandals, calling him stupid and disconnected. Somehow Obama uses that same excuse as a badge of honor and mostly gets away with it.

Again, it depends on one's perspective I think. I am old enough to remember Iran Contra well, and the mainstream media (mostly network TV nightly news back then) was calling Reagan none of those things. It was the left-leaning political pundits that were doing that while the right-leaning ones were rushing to his defense. Kind of like - no, EXACTLY like - the way things are playing out now, except it's the right-leaning pundits attacking and the left-leaning pundits defending. The media isn't exactly covering up the mess - I've been reading stories on NBC News, USA Today, CNN, ABC News, et al. about the NSA spying on foreign allies and the ACA roll-out debacle all week.

And yes, having children there is manipulative and dirty. No one denies that. I've been here basically calling the entire 23 Executive Action bullshit manipulative, well, manipulative bullshit.

Edit - and since none of us have time for video, here's the transcript, easily found now that we knew the date of the press conference.
Tellingly, even the White House, at the end, calls these Executive Orders (but neither Obama nor Biden do.) Because this is a manipulative attempt to make it seem like they're doing more.

They admit they aren't laws, though: These are a few of the 23 executive actions that Im announcing today. But as important as these steps are, they are in no way a substitute for action from members of Congress. To make a real and lasting difference, Congress, too, must act -- and Congress must act soon. And Im calling on Congress to pass some very specific proposals right away.

Unlike what Rollin said, there is no mention of an Executive Order. He mentions these are calls for actions, not actions.

It's stupid, pointless PR fluff only an idiot really gets worked up over. Oh, look, there's RT, all worked up...

When you make a comment like "some of these I can do myself" what does that imply? If you honestly think Barack Obama wouldn't try to circumvent the process to get what he wants seeing as though he's proven time and time again anytime he doesn't get what he wants he cries like a little cunt and blames everyone else, then I have some swampland to sell you real cheap.

I thought you said it was something the President said. Now it's Biden? Maybe you need to provide an actual statement with actual context. I have 0 confidence in your ability to do that.

I think Beamer is right. You do little to no thinking of your own, so you're actually incapable of doing the research needed to understand an issue. You just regurgitate crap from others that you don't even understand yourself. You're so ridiculously simple that we all missed it for quite a while, even as you were doing your best to illustrate it for us. It was just hard to believe you're actually that dumb.

OMFG did you watch the press conference with both of them or are you just trolling for effect at this point? holy fucking retarded liberal batman.

Stop being an asshole AND POST A LINK TO EITHER THE FUCKING PRESS CONFERENCE OR A TRANSCRIPT OF IT!

Jesus fucking christ. How many times must we tell you this: if you're going to say something as a "fact" SUBSTANTIATE IT WITH A GODDAMN LINK TO A GODDAMN SOURCE.

You've proven time and time again that you never know what you're talking about and constantly mention things that are either untrue or taken so far out of context that they're still basically a lie.

You're making these claims, it's your job to substantiate them.

Expected response from the inept, tiny-brained maggot: either silence or "but Benghazi!"

It's been linked in this thread more than once, go find it. I'm done providing you reasons to be distrustful of Obozo if you can't take the 5 minutes to even look. Kids on the stage, Biden opens then hands it off to the dictator in chief, unconstiutional comments ensue from there.
