Grand Theft Auto V Map Leaked

Forbes took some time off surfing the 'net for porn to check out reddit and dig up what is apparently a leaked map of Los Santos, the setting of Grand Theft Auto V. The article attempts to give perspective on the vast scale of the game world this map reveals. The console editions of the game are due one week from today. Thanks nin.

How big is the Skyrim map vs. this leaked map? This one seems small. Maybe the city just looks small because of the wilderness area and smaller towns/areas behind it. Is GTA IV bigger or small or same as this leaked shot?

Anybody know why Rockstar is making GTA V for X360/PS3 instead of Xbone and PS4, which will be able to produce much better quality and larger everything in the game?

Can you even run X360 games on Xbone? And PS3 games on PS4?

Here's Here's GTA SA, IV and RDR all scaled on GTA V's map and here's Skyri

And as to why launch on 360 & PS3 as contra One / PS4? It's a $250M game, that's why.

And no, there is no direct backwards compatibility on these consoles. Different architecture, different instruction set on the CPU. Nor would emulation be possible since there's not enough power on even modern day PC's to pull it off in realtime.

Holy crap!! If those maps are all properly to scale, holy crap! People said Skyrim was huge! You mean $250M spent on a game needs a large user base, and Xbone and PS4 are not guaranteeing enough sales to make it worth it? You have to think that these new consoles willsell though. Or are console sales decreasing these days?

My one question I have for GTA5 is will trains/subway's be working in multiplayer? The only fault I could find in RDR and 4 was there was no MP train/subway.

There should be. R* said the world's AI still operates the same way in both single player and online mode.

I hope that scale is correct.

GTA4 wasn't perfect on release for the PC, the patches smoothed it out and the settings can be highly jacked up compared to the console version.

As for the current gen interfaces, even with a few ad's the 360's interface is 10 times better easier to navigate and use then the PS3's

That's what I thought maybe, that they started on it 3 years ago let's say, and to change it now to use next-gen consoles would mean a re-working of lots of the game.

I looked at the map if GTA IV, and this GTA V will be quite a bit larger I think overall, but the urban area maybe slightly smaller, not much though I think. The vast wilderness could be a fun change from the urban areas of past GTAs. Please for PC, please!

Much larger install base for the current gen consoles (since no consumer has a next gen console) plus it has been in development for 3-5 years now (supposedly).

I remember all too well the PC port of GTA 4 and I'll carry that grudge to my grave. Oh, I may get around to V, when it's 5 dollars or less on Steam. Rockstar can suck it.

The PC version may have been bad at first, but there's nothing wrong with it now. I've had tons of fun with it.

I'm so very tempted to buy the PS3 version of V, but I'll wait for the PC version since it shouldn't be all that long of a wait.

While I remember the horror that was IV when it was first released they eventually fixed most of the big bugs. I'd buy it well before it hits bottom of the bargain bin prices but only if the reviews say it's mostly bug free.

lol 360's dead! GTA 5 on the 360 is only beating the ps3 in pre orders by almost 600k. The 360 is indeed quite dead (source http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/)

Yup, I made the mistake of caving in and buying GTA IV for PS3. Ran like shit and console controls only served to remind me how much better mouse and keyboard is. PC port had problems, but it was still infinitely more enjoyable, especially once I beefed up my rig.

If I have to choose between console and no PC version, I guess I'll just never play it. Same as RDR.
