Assassin's Creed Liberation HD Announced

Ubisoft officially announces Assassin's Creed Liberation HD, following-up on recent rumors that a remastered version of the Vita installment in the stealth series, and listing Windows as one of its target platforms. Here's a trailer and here's word:

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD features unique assassin gameplay mechanics, an immersive Assassin’s Creed storyline, and richly detailed high-definition graphics. Developed by Ubisoft Sofia, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD is the striking chapter of the pre-American Revolution Assassin’s Creed saga, arriving for the first time as a digital title on Xbox® 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and PC.

Taking full advantage of its new hardware, Liberation HD introduces a complete graphical overhaul, re-mastered music and sound effects, a revamped gameplay experience, and new missions that dive deeper into Aveline’s story.

The year is 1765. While the seeds of the American Revolution are being sewn in Boston and New York, Spanish forces in the South plot to seize control of Louisiana for the Templars, threatening to forever shift the balance of power in the New World. As Templars secretly take hold of the slave trade in New Orleans, Aveline de Grandpré, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage, stands ready to defend her people. She soon finds herself on an unforgettable journey that will take her from the crowded streets of New Orleans to voodoo-haunted swamps and ancient Mayan ruins. Whether eliminating her enemies with new assassination skills or luring them into cunning traps, Aveline strikes mortal fear into the hearts of those who would stand against freedom.

I've played this on a friends Vita, it's very mediocre and I can't imagine they will update enough for the HD version to be much better. The story and characters are good, the rest of the game doesn't measure up to even the subpar AC games.

I'm still treking through this, but I have to say that, IMO, it pails in comparison of other AC games. To me it still feels like a portable game - limited freedom, missions seem very linear, the whole multiple outfits got a bit annoying. Again, this is just my $.02 ... doesn't matter, I'll be playing Watch Dogs via remote play to take care of all my portable open world debauchery needs.

Have you ever played a Elder Scrolls Game?

Even Skyrim doesn't let you invest points into a Dewey Decimal system perk. Unless there's a mod for it I mean. There's always a mod.

I was interested for a moment, but then read the title again and found out that the game was not called "Assassin's Creed Librarian".

There's a distinct lack of first person, open world, stealth librarian video games on the market and I was hoping Ubisoft had done something to fix that.

Have you ever played a Elder Scrolls Game?

Because one AC game per year isn't enough?

At least the character is interesting.

I just couldn't bring myself to finish 3 before trading it in. Hoping 4 brings back the goodness of 2 and Brotherhood.

Which just goes to show that the original needed a bit more time in the oven. It should have never shipped with the performance issues it did. Nor with the universally reviled disguise system, for that matter.

I was playing it when it came out. It's pretty amazing for a hand held game. I thought it was better than Brotherhood, which I couldn't get into after finishing 2. Of course, I never played 3 or Revelations because, frankly, the whole series bores me to tears now.
