EA Clarifies Online Games Comment

EA News has a follow-up from Peter Moore who wants it clear that he didn't say what some people think he said about EA not shipping any "offline" games:

Today, most games are “online” in some way, shape or form. Many games connect in online multiplayer modes; others include online services which allow for periodic content updates, sharing stats or achievements or connecting with friends; and others are games downloaded through digital delivery methods like Origin or the App Store. The reality is, the Internet and social connectivity touches every one of our titles today – and has for several years.

What that does NOT mean is that every game we ship will require an online connection. Many, if not most, of our games include single-player, offline modes that you can play entirely without an Internet connection, if you so choose. We know that’s something many of our players want, and we will continue to deliver it.

What's more amusing than people upset with publishers is blind fools who have stockholm syndrome and something think a multi billion dollar corporation is their personal buddy who needs to be defended. Priceless!

95% of the pc titles from any publisher, always on. Complains as though EA is the only one doing it. Priceless.
The less you care about what people write on the internet, the better.

In short, vast majority - if not all of the commentary on gaming related posts on the net is trash. Luckily Blues does not show comments by default, which makes it so much better than most gaming news related sites.

In other words, Peter, EA wanted to ship games that required an Internet connection, got called on it, and quickly backtracked in light of the overwhelmingly negative response. Again.

"Just remove the PR speak. You ship online functionality for paywall shit, gated content and to help prevent any resale."

Someone needs to take Peter Moore to a doctor, because he's repeating himself ad nauseam.

More like to remove his foot from his mouth. It's good when they screw up like this from time to time because then everyone reminds them of why things like ODRM are despised.

Sure! Just like SimCity..oh wait.

Just remove the PR speak. You ship online functionality for paywall shit, gated content and to help prevent any resale.
