Yes, but in all fairness those are global publications. People read them all over the world daily. The Christian Science Monitor and Washington Post would also fit into that category too. The SFC is pretty local.

Working well is a nice way to interpret it

Not sure we can call that working well... given that everyone who made a paywall is crying that they are not getting any money from ads anymore and have lost 90% of their readership. And if you are not read your importance as a news source wanes.
