Out of the Blue

I did some adventuring yesterday that got away from me and took too much time, which was the bad news. The cool news is that one of my accomplishments was visiting a welder and having him fix a bracket that holds a muffler in my decrepit Corvette. The goal with this 100K+ miles car has always been to avoid sinking money into it as it soldiers on in its second decade of service, so the fact the mufflers have a built in bracket for this became a big problem when they eventually broke off, as a proper replacement would involve replacing the entire exhaust system, which would be a lengthy (expensive) installation of an expensive part. Instead my friend Devicer found me a welder who fixed my broken makeshift bracket temporarily while he works on fashioning me a pair of new brackets. A local muffler shop had already told me neither of these things could be done, so the fact that he found both projects so manageable (if not trivial) was refreshing. And the fact that he charged me $5.00 for welding the broken bracket was shocking in the best possible way.

Okay, first of all, that is insane. Second, I don't even understand how he keeps the yo-yo spinning long enough to do the tricks. I'd love to see that and have it explained to me first hand.

The FORCE by which they flick it is insane. It isn't you and I. Also, they modify their yo yos. String, silicone at the rod, etc etc etc.

I got a Prius. I often get over 60 MPG.

I get 17MPGs average.

I drive a sedan.

A 4000LBS sedan.

With RWD. And a big V8. But that's my choice. If I had a lot more highway miles to drive for work I'd probably be in the 25mpg range. Small Block Chevys can actually be quite fuel efficient. I'll be Blue gets pretty damned good mileage in his 'Vette.

Whoa whoa whoa, when did this happen?!?!

Yeah, I never knew you had a 'Vette Blue!

Sounds like it's a C4 'Vette. Blue I would have just gotten an aftermarket exhaust for the car anyway.

I got it a while back. I definitely mentioned it at least once here, but I'm a little sheepish about it because it may give the impression I'm living high on the hog in a way that would be *completely* inaccurate. I got the car as a bargain because it had almost 90K hard miles on it, and needed lots of help, all of which I've tried to do on the cheap. This included some junk yard parts and gluing the rear window back in (it's actually a C5 convertible). The rear window is loose again (it needs a whole new roof), the rack-and-pinion leaks, the engine has a wrist-pin knock, one of the pulleys is out of line, the driver's seat doesn't adjust properly, and more. But the car still loves to drive and I love to drive it, so here's hoping I can keep her going for another 113K miles.

Nonsense, 'Vettes are cheap. I've been looking at 'Vette 'verts as well because I think it'd be fun to have as a second vehicle.

I used to get 12 MPG in my vehicle, a Land Rover Series III Air-portable, at about $10 USD per gallon (1.42/litre). I've recently put in a diesel engine, it remains to be seen how well this will perform but I'm hopeful of 35 - 40 for a couple of pence cheaper a litre.

They estimated it would take 2 weeks to change the engine. It only took 3 months...

When EA sacked one of the devs that worked on the original last year, I lost any interest.

Second decade of service? Pffft. My vehicle's 6 months into her fourth decade, and that includes 15 years service in the Royal Commandos. Not that I go on about it.

It's out for iCrap. But they made it a complete pay-to-win game as well. So it's not the PvZ we're looking for.

Sounds like EA. I will happily skip it then.

EA won't even patch PvZ 1 for Windows 8, it has weird fullscreen acceleration problems but they go ahead and list it as Windows 8 compatible anyway. Screw em, if anyone can run Popcap into the ground quickly it's EA.

Was never a fan of the Corvette, except mebbe the Stingray. Caroll Shelby was always my car god. While I might not kill for a GT500, I would wound for it. Outside of anything Shelby, a 69' Charger would be pretty neato keen too.
