Gaming Treadmill Preorders

Preorders are now underway for the Virtuix Omni Gaming Treadmill, the recently revealed accessory that looks to add virtual running to your virtual reality experience. The units are USD $499.00 for one or $1,019 for two (the price discrepancy apparently due to the inclusion of an extra pair of shoes) for those willing to spring for this before seeing reviews, and their current estimated ship date is March 2014. Thanks Polygon.

space to hump
I think that's a different device

Yeah, I confused the Omni Treadmill with the Omni Vagina. My bad.

Ok, the concept is fucking awesome, HOWEVER, if all it does it simulate you pressing WASD to move, space to hump, etc, it's not really that great. It needs in-game support to translate movement on a 1 to 1 basis. Plus, you have to wear special shoes? I have a hard time finding shoes in the right size as it is.

Hah, 1 to 1 basis. That'd get a lot of gamers to quit using it real fast when they realize how fat and slow they are. I know I wouldn't last long.

Lol. The people at my shooting range that are going to outlast everyone during the zombie apocalypse because they have guns...but weigh so much that they are out of breath after walking 10 feet from the car to the firing line. Sorry pal, even classic zombies are faster than you.

If you don't like where gaming is heading, stop giving your money to the people who are taking it in that direction.

I am really looking forward to these, assuming they do a decent job with build quality.

Going to be great for staying fit, and having a good time. I might even buy 2 just to invite my friends over to do battle. The shoes part will make things interesting though, maybe they can do some sort of adapter for attaching to regular shoes... which I am sure they are already considering.

It's not too bad for a really, really nerdy way to get some exercise, but the real cost is at least double that, considering it all but requires an Oculus Rift and etc.
