Don't know why anyone thinks games that play like 99% of free browser web games would sell like hotcakes.

There's some 'strong potential' and immediately recognizable fun gems to be had, which is why towerfall is selling well despite it's simple gameplay, low assets and expensive (for the ouya) price.

There's alot of buying potential lost due to no easy google play and other ways android developers could pull in some dough with ouya users, but that's yet to be seen right now its all sideloading hacks and whatnot.

Kinks happen with new systems, they'll find their way. Right now using it for my android games (that work) and hacking it for other stuff is way more enjoyable than trying to find a $3 'plays like flash' game.

My condolances Axis.

"I think the problem is right now there are retail outlets that are really taking everybody for a ride. You can't make a living at the expense of everybody else."

So...is Ru Weerasuriya really saying that used car lots, used book shops, and used video shops are "making a living at the expense of everybody else"?

Nevermind that there's plenty of places that make a living at the expense of others.

Reading the article more in depth, I'm surprised its doing as badly as it is. You would think with so little to buy on the platform that people would at least pickup something but some of those sale figures will drive even indies elsewhere. Seems like there are much better platforms that can accommodate the majority of 'games' you could find on a Ouya and I don't see a realistic roadmap on where the company plans to take the thing. Retail releases were probably a mistake, they screwed some of their backers doing it and it doesn't seem like the retail market has any interest in such a device at $100.

Middling sales are qualification for success.

Ouya developers report poor to middling sales figures for early games.

Surprising no one.
