1. Personal assistants are useless and annoying. No one needs some animated douchebag wagging his tail taking up precious time and resources. It's not like their OS usage is so different from win98, people do basic shit -- get back to basics. Man I hate MS anymore bunch of lipservice windbags.

2. Minimalist is the key, been setting up striped down versions for years and people are enormously more happy. People want less 'flashy' handholding bullshit going on everywhere in the OS.

3. Windows 8 still is a bag of dogshit. Lets see Billy G talk about that instead.

Taking 2 steps back, time is showing that MS was doing a heck of a lot better when Bill G was in charge. MS is flubbing almost non-stop these days.

Yeah, Bill, that's why MS is sucking so hard for the last decade or so, we need more things like Clippy and Bob.

Jesus, talk about either not reading the article, not comprehending the article, or not understanding that news sites often make headlines designed more for clicks than for clarity!

Ok, what didn't you understand about it? It was straightforward to the rest of us.

Because no one else read more than the headline, either.
Gates didn't say "Microsoft Bob will come back. I hope everyone loves stupid cartoon avatars designed by Gabe Newell!" He said "personal assistant software will be part of the future. There will be no avatar, just a disembodied voice. You know, exactly what Apple and Google are already doing and doing pretty well, only with more intelligence behind it."

He flat out says there won't be a cartoon avatar, yet you completely miss that. He's basically saying that Apple and Google are right with what they're doing and it will be more commonplace, and saying Microsoft tried to with Bob but the technology wasn't there and their implementation was more annoying than useful.

No one really wants a digital assistant and people talking to themselves in public look like fucking idiots.

In other words, MS will just copy Siri and do a poor job of it, as usual. I think they should bundle it in the 180. SURELY that will make it even better!

Kinect: "It looks like you're waving your arms around frantically. Are you on fire? Say "Xbox FIRE!" to call the fire department."

He's not saying the software will come back, just that the idea will. And, frankly, it's what Siri mostly is.
