Steam Summer Sale Begins

The Steam Store shows the eagerly anticipated Steam summer sale is underway, kicking off an 11 day extravaganza. Here's word:

July 11th, 2013 - Steam has launched our 2013 Summer Getaway Sale, with massive discounts on hundreds of PC, Mac and Linux titles. Right now, you can take advantage of up to 75% savings on hits like Bioshock Infinite, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Grid 2, Don't Starve and more.

The Summer Getaway Sale offers you more ways to save than ever, with a hundred Daily Deals launching over the next eleven days. Check back often to take advantage of our eight-hour deep-discount Flash Sales. You can even help select what goes on sale with our Community's Choice Voting Sales.

For the first time, buying discounted games at this year's sale now earns you an all-new collectible in the form of Trading Cards. Collect, trade and craft over 50 new sets of cards, including 10 Summer Getaway Trading Cards that can only be earned during the sale. Each set can be crafted into badges, backgrounds, emoticons and other rewards.

The Steam Summer Getaway Sale will run from now until July 22nd. Complete information on Daily Deals, Flash Sales, Community Choice Voting and more can be found at http://www.steampowered.com. AAAAAND it's down.

It really is fucking ridiculous that year after year after year valve just fucking refuses to temporarily put some extra goddamned capacity in place.

The only one in the initial first batch I really may go for is Anti-Chamber, but I'm sure it'll go below $5.
Wish I'd grabbed Scribblenauts at that price - I didn't love that game. The puzzles were fun, but the in-between puzzle "world" was just a hassle to me.

There were 2 games I was interested in both are on daily deal today.
One is 50% off the other one is 30%.
What are the chances it will go lower? None.
Steam used to have much much better deals during their annual sales, not sure what happened to them lately, but greenmangaming is kicking their ass all over the place.
Even Bioshock is cheaper from gmg right now then from Steam as their daily deal.

Publishers set the prices and I see plenty of good deals so I don't see the big deal here. If you see a better deal on Amazon or GMG then grab it, *shrug*. This is market competition at work, people undercutting Steam is good for you and if it starts to affect their bottom line then Valve will try to convince publishers to let them set even lower prices. There has literally never been a better time to be a videogame consumer, we get brand new games heavily discounted a few months after release and tons of great indie games for amazing prices.

I'm actually looking forward to the sale, I've got a little list of stuff I want and I'm gonna price compare all over the place to get the best deal.

Pretty weak deals, 30-50% off.
What happened with the good old 75% daily deals?

Patience Grasshopper, it's Day 1.

I hope the Community Choice voting ends up with Dishonored for $10. Haven't picked that up yet...

I'm not at all trying to sway your voting, btw

I'll vote for that when I get home. Damn good game...
