Metro: Last Light DLC Next Week

Deep Silver announces the Faction Pack, the first DLC for Metro: Last Light. 4A Games' first-person shooter sequel. This will be released worldwide on Steam and Xbox LIVE on July 16th, and while the PS3 edition will be released at day in North America, it will come to the European PlayStation Network the day after. Here are some screenshots and this page has details, saying: "The Faction Pack includes three original single player missions, each casting the player as a different specialist from the warring Factions. Returning to some classic locations from Metro 2033, these missions feature new weapons, the return of a truly terrifying mutant foe, and offer three distinct gameplay challenges…" We also have word on the three additional DLC packs to follow this one:

  • The 'Tower Pack' presents a unique experience for seasoned Metro gunslingers - a challenge based game mode, with online Leaderboard support, as players fight their way up the combat simulator known as The Tower
  • The 'Developer Pack' boasts a fully stocked Shooting Gallery, the AI Arena and Metro Museum... And a bonus solo mission - The Spiders' Nest - offers some new tools for dealing with an infestation of the skittering Spider mutants
  • Lastly the Chronicles Pack will feature original single player missions that cast the player as three of the game's standout characters - Pavel, Khan and Anna - and explore their side-stories away from Artyom's adventure

This game and 2033 are two games on a long list of "to be played" for me. Curiously, I just noticed that there are a lot of shooters in my backlog. (FPS or TPS) I seem to be putting the entire genre off to the side...without really consciously thinking about it. I haven't played Dishonored or Bioshock Infinite for example. I know I will like them, just haven't prioritized them.

Dishonored isn't really a shooter. Yes, you have guns (two, to be exact) but those are the least interesting tools in your arsenal. The game is really all about your powers and how you combine them in crazy ways. Also, I think the game is much more interesting if you play stealthy but that's just me.

That is actually very good info for me to keep in mind, thanks! While I have not been a fan of the AC series, I was a fan of Thief and other stealth based titles....and when other games give me stealthy options I tend to use them.

What are you playing then? or let's ask differently. What's the last (non mobile, non flash/arcade) game you finished (not 100%, but the physical end of the game ,p).

Can't tell if you are trying to be a smart ass or if it's a legitimate question so I will skip the "your mom" joke and answer it straight:

in no particular order...(not including console or MMOs)

1) XCOM: Enemy Unknown
2) Avadon: The Black Fortress
3) Divinity 2 The Dragon Knight Saga
4) Serious Sam Double D
5) Borderlands 2 (oooh a shooter!)

I play/mod Skyrim and NBA2K13 continuously. Somewhere in all of that I finished up the Tomb Raider reboot as well, but I guess that would count as a shooter as well.

Thanks And it really was a honest question. I saw you post you don't play many shooters more than once, so was just curious what else you were playing

I can understand this. I bought all these games but for some reason they sit unplayed in my Steam list. I don't know if it's losing interest (I grew up on Quake and Doom) but these days all I play are RTS. Perhaps because they don't take much time. It's easy to predict how long it'll take me to get the game finished. I no longer enjoy the "visceral" nature of FPS. Seeing shell casings eject from yet another AK or AK-like weapon does not provide me the simple pleasure it once did

Yeah, this is my problem as well. I did play and finish Medal of Honor (the one before "Airborn", which I liked and everyone else apparently hated) but previous to that the only pure shooter I can think of that I played and finished was Crysis. The CoD games bore me and I only seem to stay interested in the Battlefield games for a short period of time. BF2 stayed in my playlist for sometime thanks to the mod scene, but BF3 was gone a month after I bought it.

Quake 2 with the Rocket Arena mod was some of my favorite online gaming ever. I was also a big UT fan. Not good, mind you, just had fun. Like you said though...I think some of the aspects that I was entertained with before don't do it for me anymore despite the infinitely better graphics and sounds.
