Killing Floor: Free Week; Patch; Sale; More

The Killing Floor Summer 2013 Sideshow Event is underway, as Tripwire Interactive keeps up with their annual tradition of promoting their co-op survival/horror shooter with a special event. This includes a new patch adding a new objective mode, the ability to unlock a new character, an 80% off sale on Steam, and the ability to play the game for free for a week. Here's the deal:

And, so everyone who doesn't own the game can try the new mode, Killing Floor will be available to download and play, for NO money (that is f-r-e-e), from 4th July through to 11th July. That is a whole week to try it out. And, to encourage everyone even further, the game will be on sale during the period of the free week, at an 80% discount.

But wait! There's more! We are also bringing you a new DLC character, to keep the original Mr. Foster company - Mrs. Foster! Plus a second Gold Weapons Pack for all those who like their weapons blinged out. And as if that wasn't enough - a Steampunk-themed Community Weapons Pack will also be available, to match with the whole Steampunk theme of the Summer Event. Remember, you can only unlock Mr and Mrs Foster during the Summer Sideshow event - so don't wait! If that is all a lot to take in at one go take a look at the event web page: http://summer2013.killingfloorthegame.com.

I've had it forever but played it for the first time last night. Hopped on a server with 5 players that had map voting at the end. Actually had a lot of fun, people were helpful without even asking, giving me cash and guns to make sure we made it through the level. After my third map I top-fragged from there on out of course

Yeah, great game. I've played a few coop games with asshats, but it's a popular enough game that finding a server with decent teammates is pretty simple.

I'd like to see a sequel soon, though.

Got this on my Steam list and played a single round of single player once. I really should give it a try online.

Me either. I'm surprised how well cash donations works in the game. In any other game people would hoard cash for themselves but in Killing Floor it's a given that everyone will share more or less.

Killing floor is definitely one of the most underrated games available today - and I've never had a problem with the people playing it.

I picked up the game a few sales back, but I was told the scene could be extremely vitriolic, so I never even went online with it. I have too many games left on the backlog to spend time getting yelled at when I'm trying to have fun.

Same reason I won't touch LoL, and the like.

Don't believe everything your told. I've had nothing but fun with the game playing online.

You're missing out.

Out of my 600 hours, I would say 9 times out of 10 the games I played were with mature people.

You don't want to start out with this game in single player mode. It's too hard.

Go online, and play on a 6man team, and you'll have a blast.

This game never gets old, for me. Ever since playing this game, I now love Coop-"Invasion" type games. Waves of enemies, and each wave is stronger and more unique, with a final wave of a Boss.

It's pretty bad ass.

Great/fun physics engine. Slow-motion bits for special kills. Great weapons and sound effects. Bone cracking bam sound effects for shotgun blasts to heads of strong enemies.

You'll probably want to start out playing the Sharpshooter class, or Support Specialist class. I always play Support Specialist, because I love shotguns.

You can get the Hunting shotgun (which is a double-barrel shotgun), and press middle-click (alt fire) for a double-barrel blast. I like to approach the Scrake enemies, crouch down, point up to their neck (when they're at 50% health), and do a double barrel blast, and sometimes it kills them and makes them fly up and back flip in the air.

Great.

This game is under appreciated. Deserves more popularity.

This is my #1 game. 600 hours played, since Dec. 2011

Other games I play don't come close to # hours played.

Edit: I still prefer the original skins; right now the sideshow event is on, so, the monsters look different.

I also like the skins for the Christmas event.
