The funny thing is, back then we couldn't. (And it wasn't so much the online activation part as the fact that you were allowed to install the fucking thing a grand total of three times, and then had to BEG the fucking publisher to be allowed to install it more.)
And so the lines shift. Ten years from now, most people will look back at the Xbone fiasco and go "Huh. Really? That's what people got upset about? Used games and having to be online?"
