I'd be all for an 'autoreport to police', not just eliminating what's out there. Realistically, there's minimal punishment for those caught which also needs to be addressed.
Realistically, most of them don't get caught because they do it in places where the authorities are corrupt or incompetent, or both.

I want technology that kills the people who make this sick shit in the first place. By the time some sick perv gets around to searching for it the damage to the kids involved has already been done.

Yeah, it's a slippery slope. Today it hides all child porn, tomorrow it hides all mention of the NSA watching you 24/7, and the day after it hides any page that has anything bad to say about the President.

I'm all for destroying child porn in whatever way possible, but this is pretty disturbing. (Assuming it works, which I honestly kind of doubt. Other than the morons who are getting caught anyway, no child porn abuser is going use Google to search for it. But if would definitely work for the other scenarios... )

While I was reading that article about Google developing technology to eliminate or at least 'hide' all child porn on the web a rather unsettling thought occured to me.

What if someone decided to use that technology later on to remove some other 'flagged' content from the web? Maybe content that is offensive or damaging to a certain group of people but benefits another group of people? You see where Im going with this?

I wonder why this is necessary, if anyone finds child porn on the net you report it and the authorities handle it from there. Why would we trust a corporation to effectively censure the entire web for whatever 'noble' purpose? Censorship never works anyway, it only pushes the criminals further underground and really in the end only hurts the people it purportedly aims to protect.

All the pains Google endures for running a search engine. Won't the same pains come to DuckDuckGo too eventually? How will DuckDuckGo have the resources to deal with it? Soon we'll see DuckDuckGo go out of business then?
