Blizzard's Unannounced MMOG Reset and Delayed?

Blizzard has hit the reset button on their unannounced upcoming MMORPG project, reports GamesBeat, citing "a source familiar with the matter," who tells them the game codenamed "Titan" should not be expected before 2016. They say the team developing the game has been reduced from 100 to 30, with 70 developers assigned to other projects while the core team starts over on the game. This is unconfirmed at this point, as Blizzard has not yet responded to their request for a comment.

Millions more are playing Simcity today, than Diablo
EA is supporting and patching Simcity a million times over, compared to what Blizzard has done to Diablo 3, that is so shameful and funny at the same time, I am smiling ear to ear at that one.
Tens of Millions will be buying the Sims4, a year from now.
Hundreds of Millions will be made, from BattleField 4 this year
EA will be the first videogame empire to have grossed a trillion dollars.

Apparently, shit is perfectly edible!

Actually SimCity has sold 1.6m copies total and was probably a very disappointing product for EA and Blizzard has actually patched D3 quite a bit which you would know if you had bothered to play it. BF4 isn't even out yet BTW. And yeah I agree with Sempai, baby needs a nap.

Once that engine is in place, and the team of 200 lawyers sign it, and pass it, and Google lends a building block of cluster servers operating off of quantum computing, they will then skin some art around it, and release it to the masses, where they will be divided, and brainwashed, and oblivious, and naive, just as they are today, with Diablo 3.

so long Blizzard, it's been emotional.

Not living up to Bliz standards would be a good reason to scrap it. However, there is nothing on the horizon to compete with WoW. So, I think my point is valid to keep milking WoW. Gives them all the more time to polish, scrap, re-work, or Titan until WoW dies off.

If they were hot to publish Titan, they would add more resources to the team, not take away from it.

I don't get why their fuck up equates to self entitlement on the posters end. Great you think Blizzard is all that, but for me they don't do much for me and haven't been the center of my gaming. Never really understood why their player base was that much bigger than the rest. Wow, Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo, that is all they are. A mmo a couple RTS's and a ARPG.

I wouldn't hold my breath. They lost their best people years ago... which is exactly why D3 turned out how it did, and exactly how I expected it would. Blizzard's best days are done.

I see it differently. Aside from gamer's wanting the next Blizzard MMO to come out, why would Blizzard release it now? WoW still has ~ 9 million subscriptions world wide. It's one of the few MMOs that is still profitable as a subscription model. Everyone else is doing microtransactions.

It was said when EQ2 came out - one of the biggest deterrents for EQ2 was EQ1 was still wildly popular and was still releasing content updates. So, EQ2 suffered. Ok, so EQ2 had some launch issues, but dig back through some old reviews for it and this comes up quite a few times. It was also said when D&D Online released that it came out a few years prior ala EQ, which at the time was a much better game.

Another example? UO2 - why this was never released amazes me. Even more so considering UO is still around. But, at the time UO2 was shelved partially because UO was still popular. I'm not sure the concept for UO2 fit the UO world, but there was helluva good marketing in the concept pitch. Still gets me stoked seeing it:

It will never happen, but if we want to help Blizzard put more emphasis on Titan - stop playing WoW and I'll bet Titan fires fast.

You've got some very good points in there.

No he doesnt. Because they just scrapped the entire thing, took 70% of the people off the project and started over!!!

Sure they want to milk the shit out of WoW, and that is understandable but isnt it better to have a game ready for launch and sit on it instead of scrapping the entire thing five years into production and starting over and then HOPING that you somehow finish it in time (lol BLIZZARD TIME FTW!) to release it just at the right moment to replace your aging money machine....its bullshit. They scrapped it beacuse it sucked, or because they thought it wouldnt bring in money or gamers or whatever, not because WoW is still alive and well....

Christ almighty, the self entitlement in here is thick..

I'm extremely bummed by this news, but then i'm one who appreciates the work Blizzard still does today, even if they do make mistakes.
Personally i feel 98% of what's churned out these days doesn't come close to the heart, soul, thought, and polish Blizzard puts out.

This is sad news, but it's probably Blizzard simply keeping with their standards.
As a gamer and more so an mmo'r, the landscape ain't lookin too bright for us out here.

What..we have Rift, Swtor, Tera, Aion, GW2, EVE, and new blood like Neverwinter, and Defiance, which are both fairly ho hum, and fail to do a damned thing new or exciting.

We have Elder Scrolls Online(yeah..good luck with this one.)which not only looks like ass, but is simply more of the same. Let's not even epak of how it will be a buggy, broken mess it's first year out.
We have FF14 which will be reborn the end of this summer due to it being a giant, broken, insulting turd to their fans.

Yeah, the current landscape looks fantastic doesn't it?..
The only projects that don't look like a complete waste of time are CCP's World of Darkness(who knows when this will ever see light of day?)and Wildstar.

But fuck Blizzard right? Give me a break..

If they thought Diablo 3 lived up to their "stringent standards" then I weep for the poor souls who had to alpha test Titan.

There is an update to the article, it appears to be true. I have little faith in MMOs anymore, and even less in Blizzard. Although them axing the game probably meant the game was mediocre, their standards have become so low that the game was probably so fucking bad it would make Diablo3 look fantastic by comparison.

In any case good riddance. Fuck Blizzrd and fuck MMOs. Like Cutter said Im looking forward more to those kickstarter rpgs than anything Blizzard could ever put out.

eh, i give them credit. better to axe it than to release crap. if the purpose truly is to redesign and rethink this bitch then more power to em. truly, it would've been better that EA and Bioware did this to swtor then release the WOW-in-space debacle that came out.
