- Underpowered hardware again, this is sort of Nintendos thing but they really pissed off third parties with that slow CPU and only 2GB of memory
It's really only been Nintendo's thing since the DS and Wii. At least they didn't just pull a 'last gen' and do 512 MB of RAM.

The marketing is just the most surprising thing to me. No one gets that the Wii U is a brand shiny new console because the thing doesn't have a new aesthetic, still uses the Wii Remote, and it's called "Wii U". I can't fathom what happened there.

Looks like another Gamecube for Nintendo

Not such a horrible thing, there were a ton of cool Gamecube games but it doesn't endear them to third parties. Problems they made this gen:

- confusing mess of supported peripherals/games
- Wii U name confuses people
- Very little marketing in NA/EU
- Underpowered hardware again, this is sort of Nintendos thing but they really pissed off third parties with that slow CPU and only 2GB of memory
- Made Amazon and EA angry at the same time
- eShop still sucks (seriously if I was a dev I would be pissed that they keep fucking this up)

Right now Ubisoft is one of the few companies really making an effort.

All of that said Nintendo is a weird company in that they can afford to go it alone, massive cash reserves and an amazing stable of highly desirable franchises.

The real problem Ninty made was essentially putting out the same console twice in a row, it was under powered the first time, it's still underpowered this time.

It actually kinda amazes me they're still even around, how many rehashed 20 year old platformers do we need before people get sick of them? Personally I was tired of them after the NES.

On a different note my excitement level for Dust 514 on the PS3 went up when I found out it supports KB/M controls.

Supposedly it's half-assed. Doesn't work in menus and can't invert the mouse for flying.

If they make decent games using their existing franchises that aren't simply HD versions of old games, I will buy a Wii U. So far, I am not seeing that so I am not buying it. Give me a new Mario, a new Metroid, A new Zelda...etc.

I will say this though, Lego City Undercover is a great game and if I had the cash to throw at a console for just one game, I would do it for that game.

It's going to go way down when you play it and realize it's Planetside designed for and hamstrung by insufficient hardware.

According to Mobygames they published 92 Gamecube games: http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/gamecube/electronic-arts-inc/

Which is more than the 59 they published for the Wii: http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/wii/electronic-arts-inc/

That's an industry trend in general too, there were like 10000 games made for the PS2 but as costs increase the number of titles continues to decrease each generation. In this case they've probably decided they don't have the money/resources to allocate to making Wii U ports which will require a lot of optimization.

It's really Nintendos own fault, yet another underpowered console

Brain's foggy...didn't EA ignore the gamecube as well?

As compared to 224 for the 360: http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/xbox360/electronic-arts-inc/ (though the list is somewhat dupe-heavy due to special/collectors editions)
