Cube World Trailer

A new video on wollay's blog shows of Cube World an upcoming voxel-based adventure/RPG. This looks pretty ambitious for a small indie project, and while there's a clamor from followers for its release, the Cube World FAQ indicates that this does not yet have any projected release date. The FAQ also fills in other blanks, including how this is coming to Windows and OS X, will offer multiplayer support, and will not be free. Thanks Acleacius via RPGWatch.

I prefer exploring to building,
Does exploring have any special feeling when you're just exploring randomly generated content? I would think not.

See assorted quotes about the journey, not the destination.

I mean, come on... none of them beat Keen any way

Why not? The real world was randomly generated, yet people have been exploring it for thousands of years!

Looks like fun. I prefer exploring to building, hence why I played Terraria much more than Minecraft.

And this looks more like 3D Dot Game Heroes. Which was awesome.
You should give the Millenaire Mod a go, it's awesome, gives Minecraft a (much needed) purpose!

And yes, Cube World looks good. Although shaded blocks is a little bit too bland... I think. Definitely need some texture to them.

This game won't share much in common with Minecraft.

I don't "love" Minecraft. But I think the key difference is that Minecraft makes you a creator instead of a consumer. As the player, you can actually shape the world around you and create your own narrative.

Cube World takes that a huge step farther in an evolutionary way.

If you don't like Minecraft, that's great. But the thing that should be encouraged here is more games that turn players into creators instead of consumers.
