Retail is not going away. Sure it will probably drop to a fraction of its former strength in sales but there will always be a demand for physical copies, people like to own 'physical' things.

Doubly true in the console market. In case I decide to sell a system I like having a physical library for it. I own most of my 3DS games despite the eShop having a great selection, same with PS3 and etc.

Indeed, had a look today and the prices in AUS stores are getting better.

Preorder Metro and you get ranger mode? Really so no ranger mode for anyone who does not preorder? You got to be shitting me.

Pretty sure you can buy it later for $5, but it's still fishy. They place the blame on retail contracts, but I'm skeptical of that...

It's true that you have to offer retailer-exclusives if you want to get prominent shelf space and advertising in-store. It's a trend that GameStop started years ago and won't die until retail dies.

If you get a code for a new game from buying a new videocard or something like that does Valve count that as a Steam "sale" for the purposes of their top ten?

I'm thinking they don't, since they say these lists only track sales through the Steam platform. I don't think they even count sales via GMG, but I'm not certain of that.

I just pre-ordred "Metro: Last Light" (I know I know) but I was going to get it anyway even without the dumb DLC they added. From Green Man Gaming for $37.00 using the code below. It's a Steam key & will work with other games too I think.

GMG25-5GT67-87HJ9

They need to hurry up and list Saint's Row 4...I think I paid $28 for 3 from them, and I'd pay $30 for the next one...

Blood Dragon is one of the best games I've played in years. A proper old style shooter and I love the B-grade late 80s early 90s crappy cyborg movie theme.

The guys who made this were clearly fans of Cannon Group, Terminator, and the hosts of rubbish "robot man killer" movies that came out then. Resonates so much with me, pretty much grew up watching those movies.

I cannot say enough good things about this. I seriously hope they turn it into a franchise.

Not gonna buy Metro:LL because of this retarded pre-order scheme they run. Pre-order and get hard-mode, or don't and pay extra for a game mode that is already in the game if you know how to edit ini files? Dirtiest of the dirty DLC pre-order scams I have seen so far.

I am gonna buy this when it's 90% off in a Xmas Sale, no money for a scheme like this from me.

GMG as always is probably as good as it gets.

This is when you check valve's definition of the top ten.

http://store.steampowered.com/feeds/weeklytopsellers.xml
The top selling games on Steam by revenue for the week, updated every Sunday

It says ON STEAM, so presumably that means only direct on steam sales.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon was good. I'm glad I bought it. The only gripe I have is the current inability to reset the outposts now that I've finished absolutely everything...

If nothing else, I'm sure they could look at "total serial redemptions" or the like.

Also, yea for Blood Dragon. Probably the most fun I've ever had with a $15 title.

I'm just asking because if you're a developer or publisher obviously you would like your game in the top ten for bragging rights and etc. And obviously even if the consumer themselves didn't pay for the game directly someone probably did somewhere along the chain (I would assume) and so from a publisher standpoint they would probably want that counted in the sales figures. But then since Valve is a private company they can tally it up any way they choose to.
